I have the hp Compaq 6200 pro sff and I have the same GPU. The fan runs the GPU but the pc does not recognize the GPU in the device manager or the bios. My bios is version 2.10.1208. The integrated video says enabled and is greyed out so I cannot change it to the new GPU. I've tried upgrading drivers but nother seems to work

I did a fresh install of windows. Ensure not connected to the internet so windows does not try and install drivers for the card. Get nvidia drivers and put on usb drive. Install windows then nvidia drivers from usb drive then update windows. Ensure gpu is firmly seated correctly.

Ok I will factory the pc. I am also using windows eduction version if that matters. So the bios doesnt recognize it either even before I tried installing windows. How do I know which driver to install? I tried using the Nvidia website but the helper does not recognize the GPU. Is there a website to download the drivers on USB?

Hi check out ebay. £15 should get you ddr3 1600mhz 2 x sticks for dual channel. Better than single stick.

@BrianGamingYT i7 3770k different socket so not supported. i7 2600 is the highest spec cpu you can install.

Same cpu socket. Dell if gaming as it's a tower so should take full size gpu . However there is no pcie power connector. I'd say 1050ti gpu is the limit therefore.

Thanks for this video. I have the same machine, I use it as a home file server. Per my research the motherboard only supports max 8Gb RAM. Did you find it supports 16Gb RAM? How well did the graphics card work? Does the low spec PCIe on these old machines significantly limit the GPU? It would have been very helpful to have shown us the machine boot up after the updates and to have an (even subjective) comparison of performance before-and-after updates.

Hi thanks for the comments., yes 16gb ram supported. Card worked fine with that i7 and no bottleneck. 1050ti max supported really without bottleneck. Will take on board regarding comparison pre and post update comparison.

@@computerrefurbishment9748 What OS are you running on it? Given the end of support for Windows 10 in Oct and given this machine (even with the i7) won't (I beleive) support Win 11 - then I'm thinking of shifting it to Linux. Any thoughts on that?

@@derekgliddon W10 will still work. Just need common sense on what websites are visited and software installed. No W11 not supported. Linux will work great on this machine so that's an option.

Do you mean move motherboard into a new case and add a standard psu? You'd need to check if the connections will fit from psu and also case onto the motherboard. Motherboard layout can be found online.

I have this computer for a few months and it is very good - i5-4590, 32Gb Chinese 4x8Gb 1600MHz dimm and and has a Samsung NVMe SSD in a Sata drive bay. 256Gb, I bought 5 3.5-inch WD Blue 250Gb HDD drives each for PLN 9.99 (Polish currency). Unfortunately, my power supply recently failed (probably since 10 years in this computer) but it is the best office machine. Instead of buying some crappy Celeron you can buy such a wonder. you can actually fit a graphics card in this little machine (in fact, the one i bought came with it installed). it is a low-profile graphics card that fits at the very top (over the wifi card). the machine is still in use, almost 10 years on (i take very good care of her) she has gotten the SSD upgrade and she runs Linux Mint like a champ!

1 hour of occt cpu stress average 75c. Superposition gpu benchmark 75c max. Valley ultra gpu benchmark 66c max. These are stress tests so expect gaming sessions to not be higher.

Hey thanks! I know the gpu is not the best and old but I like playing the games a few years old and also ones that are not too system stressing. Might upgrade in the future. Gen 12 i3 cpu leaves good upgrade path and no 13/14 gen type issues (see reports elsewhere).

The GPU causes a bottleneck to the PC. I recommend changing it to a GTX 1050Ti LP.

Good point but at the time that gpu was out of the budget assigned. The firepro should be fine for games like zula, paladins, valorant, team fortress 2. Possibly fortnite on minimal settings. Older games will be ok. Even Doom 3 from 2004 still looks great!

Hi system is ddr3. Try one stick in different slots. A slot might be faulty but work in the other.

Hi Dell Optiplex 3020 Mt can be bought cheap. Intel socket 1150 will take an i7. Add ssd and a graphics card which does not need external power and you should have something decent. There are people that have replaced the psu which is a good idea should the card need external power.

These chip sets perform to relatively a 3rd or 4th gen core i3 processor, minus some instruction sets, that hurt it for modern gaming applications. Max frame rates in 1080P is roughly the same as the i3 at roughly 30 frames a second, and that is when its paired with a GPU such as the Nvidia quadro P2000, or AMD W7100

@@computerrefurbishment9748 yeah fully built 6GB RAM, 120GB SSD, Nvidia Quadro P2000 GPU, Monitor, keyboard and mouse. Sells for $180 U.S.D over here in the states. Its the affordable banger for grand theft auto 5 RP with Mserver off of steam. The other thing to note the SSD is double the speed of the 800 or 1066Mhz system ram in virtualization mode. So as long as system ram is configured in 4GB dual channel. You can set up windows virtualization for 12GB and the system will run faster than it ever did in its time period.

Are you sure there are 2 on the back? I no longer have this system and think there is just space for 1. Check connections if none spin up. If you check and all seems ok, replace fans.

The 2nd and 3rd gen i3, especially the 3rd gen one which i use are still super capable if youre looking to play the ps4 era games at 30 fps. But the key here is that these procesors are not at all good if you have multiple apps open in background, and for that you need to optimise windows and with optimisation i got the process count down to 50 from 138, and noticed all the stutters went away, and can actually play games at locked 30 fps and even rdr2. Btw please pair it with a 1050ti and benchmark games like assassins creed origins, odyssey, just want to see how far this litttle beast can go.

Hi great reply and some good info! I also reboot between each game/benchmark run. Windows has been optimised in this case. I don't have 1050ti but will upgrade system to i7 2600 and gtx 950 soon! I do have Assassins Creed Odyssey so will add a benchmark.

Hi sorry I no longer have the system. I do not think the fan size is 120mm though. I've tried searching for the system but cannot find any information relating to the fan. Ebay has one but no size. I think it's probably around 80/90mm.

well it certainly looks like crap which makes me think trash system. my white 011 mini build with a 5700x and 3060ti is a budget build. this is just e-waste. also that config isnt ideal for ANYTHING. LOL maybe word processing? that is literally a 10 year old pile of junk. youd be better off buying a 2nd hand old dell office PC and putting a decent GPU in it. 1660s are stupid cheap and rtx 2000 series isnt exactly expensive. gtx 960?! 6400 is better but much more expensive and will be bottle necked even by i7 cpu. Ensure it's the low profile version. Also depends on what your usage will be (gaming, production etc). Some games like Team Fortress 2, Zula and Valorant should be fine with r5 340x.

Thanks for the sub! Regarding transfer of parts. Will you be using the original power supply? If not, you need to check all the connectors will match on new psu. Will the new case front panel connectors match (power switch, hdd led, power led for example)?

@@computerrefurbishment9748 appreciate your reply mate, well to be honest I went to my local shops but one of them said you can't because hp is a branded company and you have to change the mother board in order to change the case, and the other one said we have to change the pin to psu 24 pin to 6 pin converter And yea and which will cost around 200 dollars which is mad 💀

@@mrfxhd8873 I don;t have an hp sff anymore. 24 to 6 pin converter cable you can get from ebay cheap. Unfortunately there could also be other non standard connectors which a new psu/case cables would not fit. Hp usually provide good information on their past systems so search for model and motherboard layout to confirm.

Hi I don't have this system any more but looking at motherboard layout, main power is 24 pin with 4 pin for cpu. I am confident that any standard size psu will fit therefore. Bonus is that a replacement psu will have power for higher spec gpu.

Hi. Check video connection on pc and the monitor. Ensure firmly seated. Replace and try another method of connection. Check ram is firmly seated in slots. Check drive cables at both ends. If graphics card installed, check it's firmly seated.
