What kind of engine mounts are you using? If they are the original stock ones, you might benefit from removing them and filling them with polyurethane, this is what I've done on a street car and I think it improved the feel when getting on power a little bit. Also what have you done to it to improve cooling?

Yea just stock, I'll like to hard mount the engine if I'm honest, along with poly bush the suspension. It's a track car so no need for comfort. FYI bridge ported motor will never idle or run to its full potential on the stock ECU tune. Bending or drilling a small hole in the butterfly does provide additional airflow to resolve the idle issue as you’ve done. But ideally, you’ll need to adjust the tune in the ECU to gain the full advantage of the Bridgeport engine.

Really enjoying your build series. I race an RX-8 in the CSCC Trophy series (essentially standard cars). Looking to make my RX-8 competitive for the trackday trophy regs this next year so will be following some of your footsteps. I've got a 5.3 final drive gear ready to build for mine, did you find you had to shim it to get the end float correct? Are you looking to race your RX-8 too, if so what series are you thinking?
@TGBuild27011 ай бұрын
Thanks man, much appreciated. To be fair the 5.3 is probably the better option, I just like to go a little extreme where possible. Yea the diff had to be shimmed a bit. No I don't intend to race it I don't think, I just like mine to be the crazy track car that it is (I'm not a very good driver) I just get out a few times a year to have some fun.
@paulvernon416011 ай бұрын
Just a point the ssv is not the item you were pointing to, the ssv is vacuum activated and it's in the intake manifold itself, the item you were pointing to is actually the apv(auxiliary port valve) that opens around 6.5k depending on load, the ssv opens at around 4k then at 7.5k the vdi opens, on a 6 port, the apv is missing on a 4 port, often they are favourite for forced induction because ports are less critically. Either way, good to see people taking an interest IN the rx8 and good luck with the car

did you tune the engine for the bridgeport? This is the reason I didn't go for it while I was rebuilding since there was no one in my country that would do it lol.
@TGBuild27011 ай бұрын
Nope, no tuning necessary. The ecu will compensate when you get enough miles into it
@MassiveDrop11 ай бұрын
@@TGBuild270 interesting 🤔 I know you can teach the engine maps and reset them yes, but I thought you get far better results by just tuning it and also tuning the cool braps while your at the tuner 🤷♂️ would love to see the power differences with and without tune.
@TGBuild27011 ай бұрын
@MassiveDrop this one braps with not tuning. Ecu is completely stock, never been plugged it. I imagine you can squeeze a few hp out of the top end with a map but I'm very much a "mazda knows best" when it comes to these engines. Well see how it is on track and if I think I'm leaving something on the table I'll get ut tuned and see how that goes

Hey bud, been watching you for a while continue the work cant wait to see it on track. L If you wouldnt mind me asking how did you bend the butterfly on the tb? Im having a issue very similar on my 8 and can only imagine it being the porting, no vac leaks, no inj issues and no fault codes. I will have a spare tb so might try bending it with your trchnique and hopefully that will help it if not ill replace it with the spare. Thanks in advance
@TGBuild27011 ай бұрын
I just opened the butterfly, popped a bit or cloth on there and bent it with a pliers. It does require a little bit of time as it'll need several adjustments to get it where you want it. Hope this helps 👌

@@TGBuild270 hey, thank you for gettng back. Makes sense ill give it a go. When the adjustment was too much how did you know? Obviously it being to little it will do the same but being tok much would it stay started? Thanks
@TGBuild27011 ай бұрын
@joflexx.. it'll idle to high, the problem is the ecu does take time to adjust so adjust it to roughly where it idles nice then go drive it for a few miles, let it idle for 10 minutes, switch it in and off a few time and it'll probably change, then adjust it up or down as need and repeat

@АртурАгафонов-ш3ц11 ай бұрын
you need to increase the idle speed to stable (judging by the first minutes of the video). The cross section of the exhaust system seems unnecessarily large. Are the ignition coils standard? It is better to use something more powerful such as coils from Chevrolet LS series engines. 5.8 - In my opinion very short gears... On stock gearbox and stock tires: 1 gear /9000 rpm ~ 50 km/h, 2 gear ~ 84 km/h, 3 gear ~ 124 km/h, 4 gear ~ 162 km/h, 5 gear ~ 190 km/h, 6 gear ~ 242 km/h this is according to calculations
@TGBuild27011 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I use thruxton circuit, it had a 90 dB noise limit so all that exhaust is very necessary. Coils are OEM, yes. 5.8 is very low, it will put my top speed around 130 but that's enough for most of the UK tracks I use

These modifications will definitely add power at high and medium engine speeds. You need to be careful when boring the exhaust manifold and the exhaust hole on the cover (in this case, I mean the hole on the side of the manifold, and not on the side of the combustion chamber), because The manufacturer has specially placed a step on the cover on the side of the manifold, which prevents the return of negative wave back into the combustion chamber. You can also modify the throttle valve itself, as for example written in the book “Performance Tuning in Theory and Practice Four Strokes” by A. Graham Bell on page 47 By the way, a good idea complitly to wrap the intake in gold foil, as well as put a heat shielding plate above the exhaust manifold. Usually made from sheet aluminum and secured using the exhaust manifold studs. P.S. good job!

The oil pump pulls engine oil from the sump and injects it onto the apex seals as the move around the rotor housing. You can buy a kit to remove the OMP and replace it with a separate tank that's filled with 2 stroke oil.
