Very nice to see work being done on the rx8. Love it and have one.

These modifications will definitely add power at high and medium engine speeds. You need to be careful when boring the exhaust manifold and the exhaust hole on the cover (in this case, I mean the hole on the side of the manifold, and not on the side of the combustion chamber), because The manufacturer has specially placed a step on the cover on the side of the manifold, which prevents the return of negative wave back into the combustion chamber. You can also modify the throttle valve itself, as for example written in the book “Performance Tuning in Theory and Practice Four Strokes” by A. Graham Bell on page 47 By the way, a good idea complitly to wrap the intake in gold foil, as well as put a heat shielding plate above the exhaust manifold. Usually made from sheet aluminum and secured using the exhaust manifold studs. P.S. good job!

Alot of useful information there, cheers buddy. Thanks for the compliments 👌

Just a point the ssv is not the item you were pointing to, the ssv is vacuum activated and it's in the intake manifold itself, the item you were pointing to is actually the apv(auxiliary port valve) that opens around 6.5k depending on load, the ssv opens at around 4k then at 7.5k the vdi opens, on a 6 port, the apv is missing on a 4 port, often they are favourite for forced induction because ports are less critically. Either way, good to see people taking an interest IN the rx8 and good luck with the car

Awesome information, thanks buddy 👌 I did hear that the 4 port is better for boosting

@@TGBuild270 It just less involved, less variables. Probably more like an REW 13b engine apart from the side exhaust ports, but I'm no expert.

@@TGBuild270 what suspension upgrades have you got for the track, uprated anti roll bars are one of the most cost effective upgrades for the 8(whiteline or racing beat)

@paulvernon4160 smae here pal, first rotary, just figuring it out as I go. Comments like yours are a big help though so it's much appreciated 👍

@paulvernon4160 hsd monopro coilovers. No arb's yet, it's definitely high on the list though. Was looking at the white lines

💯 all that porting was a waste of time

Cool to watch this go down ! Did the same shit on my spare reny …. And SP instead of BP because yeah I don’t have an ecu yet and figure I’ll do that on the current engine and remove all the ssv shit and ITB it to piss people off …. But if I could find a way to utilize the ssv and and itb that’d be illness
@TGBuild27011 ай бұрын
I bet it would sound pretty mental with ITB. I'm not even sure you'd lose massive power on the top end. You'd definitely lose mid range and low end torque though

So after the oil metering unit the oil is injected into the engine and burnt off is it? If so what feeds it a separate tank I assume bit like a 2 stroke?
@TGBuild270 Жыл бұрын
The oil pump pulls engine oil from the sump and injects it onto the apex seals as the move around the rotor housing. You can buy a kit to remove the OMP and replace it with a separate tank that's filled with 2 stroke oil.

Where did you get the Engine from if you don't mind me asking?

Long story, I met a guy at thruxton that builds rotary engines. Went to see his work shop a few weeks after and then dropped my am engine for rebuild.

Recommended LS D585 coil.. engine response well. For Japan spac need minor tuning.

If you're lucky to get any gains at all, i really won't waste any effort on those things
@TGBuild27011 ай бұрын
Potentially zero. If it'll flow a little more air though the ecu will compensate with more fuel. Really, the effort probably isn't worth the result, but I enjoyed the process none the less.
