This method exports outer borders as opacity, sometimes we have inner opacity like fence, Chainmail etc. By this method inner opacities are lost.. Trying to find a solution...
@unrealhabitat2 ай бұрын
Since this method uses opacity it will override the original opacity map of your textures. Im not sure its going to work in that case. I will suggest keeping those materials separate

Textures come out black from Substance Painter when doing this. Does this happen to anyone else?
@unrealhabitat2 ай бұрын
this might be because you need to add an opacity channel to each layer and export using transparency, also I haven't tested this on the latest version of Substance Painter

All the 3D assets you see were made by Synty Studios. My job as a worldbuilder is like going to a Lego store and putting different boxes of Lego together to create something cool. Making 3D assets from scratch takes a lot of work but it can make your game more unique. I try to play with textures, materials and sometimes I do modify the geometry of these assets to achieve something more interesting :)

hi, is it possible to use this workflow for some mesh that already use opacity ? As for a character with transparent clothes for example ?
@unrealhabitat2 ай бұрын
That's a great question, I haven't tried that yet, but usually for transparency I use a different material, because it will need to be set up differently in Unreal Engine

Lookin' good! A question if you dont mind: I'm designing a big jungle covered island map in a realistic style. I'll have a mountainous area with a volcano but other than that, can you think of any interesting elements I can add to the map? The gameplay will revolve around primitive tribes fighting each other and the perspective will be top down

The idea here is to have all different materials merged into a single image, if you are using a mesh with multiple materials there is no need for this workflow :)

I'm sorry, I need to fix that and separate the vertical version from the horizontal one. Thank you for letting me know 💚

I got the Playlist fixed, now all Horizontal videos from the Worldbuilding series are in one single Playlist, unfortunately KZbin does not let me reorder them as I wish, even though they are named correctly sometimes KZbin shuffles them in a weird order.
