I was wondering if you use a water based ink or oil based? Because when you wash it maybe

Even if it was just for "pretty colors", so what? Doing something visually appealing is part of being sucessful on a video platform.

I do tradition art and it’s exactly the same. Even if I’m sketching I usually stain the page entirely with charcoal so I can then later go back and use an eraser to show highlights, and further layer charcoal/use ink to show shadows. It’s much easier, looks nicer, and takes a lot less effort.

“Tying my income to my art took all the joy out of it for me.” Thank you for saying that. You have hit upon an essential truth that I experience, too. And I think our paths have to be about joy not making it a job. So glad you said it in such a real, open way. I am still finding my way back to the joy myself.

i feel like the people who ask why you paint it first lack a lot of critical thinking skills bc the answer is pretty obvious

Anyone taking a literal second to put anyone down is a whole low level vibe that I not only DONT UNDERSTAND, but actually pity. However , my analytical side is curious if this is jealousy, inadequacy, boredom, or all of the above? Haters, please make it make sense? Also, life is about lifting each other… you’re welcome. Please fell free to advance to another level of humanity. For everyone’s sake. ✌️✌️✌️her craft is incredible.

From 10 minutes onward this hit hard, I feel you. I've been in a rut where I got to "where I wanted to be" but I felt like crap. And that I wouldn't find anything I'd be happy with. I appreciate this video. I have and struggle with all these same feelings..

When i was taught this technique in grade school the teacher went over why painting the linoleum before carving was the best way to ho and why. I'm sorry that you have to defend yourself, i blame the lack of money being put into art programs.

I’ve taken printmaking and literally work in a printmaking facility what do they mean unnecessary?? Like. That’s so funny, a well known almost essential technique to relief carving being yelled about by non printmakers on the internet. Anyways beautiful work! Your lines are so smooth and clean, I love to see stuff with linoleum as I’ve only tried my hand at shina wood :)

does the acrylic you painted on the block serve a purpose for the transfer of ink to fabric, or is it just to see where you're carving?

That is an absolute genius way to make a linoleum carving, i had a lot of problems when i used to do linoleum carve because of the fact i couldn't see clearly where i had already carved and ended up with really messy pieces, I'll say is a great solution! Beautiful piece btw, continue making such amazing art ❤
