Lamp stores, want you to buy a new lamp, and they will lie through their teeth , to sell you one.

I thought I had solved the problem when I realized I needed to purchase lampshades with the “uno” hardware for my IKEA floor lamp! Little did I know the challenge had just begun. Unfortunately the hardware in the lampshade that I bought was too small to fit over the IKEA lamp’s socket 😂 So, the stem of the bulb won’t connect. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I just found this video seven years later. I found a lamp in a thrift store without a shade. An European style shade fits the lamp. I could not find a shade of the right size or color. I had the idea of buying a shade at Ikea...a basic white shade of the right size. I will cover it in fabric. However, as everyone knows it doesn't fit the lamp. I was looking for a solution when I found this video. You can cut a wider circle in the flat Ikea adapter and use it instead of using cardboard or trying to find a washer. It fits perfectly.

U do know u can get the ring adapter off Amazon for a uk fitting, or a European fitting most lamp shades come with them u can take it of or leave it on but yah Amazon sells the ring adapters

Hi Henry. Thank you for the video (almost half a millions views, congratulations!). Maybe you can save me. I think you have the exact same table lamp as me. Mine some some kind of nut right at the bottom of the base; it doesn't stand up straight. The problem is that I don't know how it looks when it is whole; I wonder if there's any way you could send me a picture of the bottom of that base?

Thank you so much. I have been trying to figure out how to use my lamp shade after the little adapter that came with it broke during installation. Praises! I can now install the lamp shade and it stays on with no wobble to it.

You know American markets are so lame and so limited they want to just sell what moves quickly so that they can pocket the money nobody’s interested in the art of anything anymore, and I think it’s pretty lame to tell you that you can’t find it anywhere it’s almost like they’re trying to stop you so that you’ll change your mind and maybe buy some thing from them even though it’s something you don’t even want, in other words settling for a lot less and usually charging you a lot more

I hate it when you need a replacement part for anything and it's obsolete and can't find anything else to fix it. Such a simple and cheap fix that most lamp stores wouldn't want us to know. Thanks for sharing!
