They would work fine together. As far as matching, some people like to have all one brand or vintage with vintage, while some people just want to have the best speakers they can afford or just speaker that they really like the sound of.

Hello, thanks for your clear explanation! I followed your video and everything worked like a charm. (I am always a bit scary about updating but your clear explanation convinced me it was possible for me too 😇). One last tip maybe to add. Your telling everyone precisely how to start the update but when is it finished? I found out I had to wait until the flash led has stopped flashing, and than i should hit the power button on the chassis to start the pc. Sounds logical ofcourse, but when i am busy with such a delicate operation It is also good to know when exactly the update has finished. maybe you said so but i could not find it.😊 ps: my Motherboard is an ASUS ROG Strix X670E-F Gaming WiFi

Thanks for the tutorial! I went from a 7950x3d to a 9800x3d, but my previous bios was bugged because it would not let me restart my computer. I could only shut it down and then turn it back on. Any attempt at a restart caused it to restart and then freeze with a 00 post code. With that problem, updating my bios was impossible. However, looking it up, i had this bios flash available, and your video explained how to use it. After the flash i turned the computer on and i got the bios updating message. Only, this time it restarted itself no problem. A lot of words just to say thank you very much. Have a wonderful holiday season, cheers!

I have that exact same mobo. I had to flash back because the bios above 0805 doesn't allow EXPO. They claimed memory overheating issues. After extensive troubleshooting Asus told me there was no fix so I decided to try the beta for 0922 and turn the memory voltage back up. It was unstable so I reverted back to 0805.

@@GlennBerrySQL So it is okay to have the M.2 connected to the chipset instead?
@Ignisan_666 күн бұрын
It is important to note that when you have a Z790 mobo with gen 5 M.2 slot and you plug M.2 SSD in it, the x16 gen 5 slot for your Graphics card will go down to x8 mode. This is because Alder and Raptor lake cpus only have 16 Gen 5 lanes + 4 Gen 4 lanes. If your Z790 mobo only has Gen 4 M.2 slot from the CPU then it's fine cause only the PCIE x16 slot is using those 16 Gen 5 lanes from the CPU. Gen 5 SSDs aren't worth it anyway.

Hi Glenn! Great video - very clear. Im hoping you can help with my issue! I'm attempting this on a new ASUS mobo and 9800x3d and I think im following the procedure correctly (file name, correct mobo, correct usb slot), but its still blinking 3 times, making an attempt, and then solid green light. I came to this a little differently. I built the system, adding GPU and (perhaps fatally) storage from a prior system, intending to use a Windows boot USB to reinstall OS. Prior to POST/BIOS, it's throwing a "New CPU installed: fTPM/PSP NV corrupted error, Y to continue" - but my USB keyboard does not respond in any port. I've reset the CMOS, pulled the mobo battery, and removed all storage - same behavior. My thought was that a BIOS flash could help, but I can't get it to take. Any ideas?

Does having 2 m.2 SSDs installed bad for performance?
@Belma199999 күн бұрын
So it doesn’t matter that the first is 5.0 and you’re installing a 4.0 ?
@GlennBerrySQL8 күн бұрын
Well, it "matters" in some respects. If you install a PCIe 4.0 SSD in a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot, it will still run at PCIe 4.0 bandwidth (because that is all the drive can do). Being in a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot does not magically make the PCIe 4.0 drive run at PCIe 5.0 bandwidth. The more common mistake is someone installing a PCIe 5.0 SSD in a PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot (which makes the PCIe 5.0 drive run at PCIe 4.0 bandwidth). The main point of this video is that you usually want to install your primary SSD (where your OS is installed) in an M.2 slot that is connected directly to the CPU rather than an M.2 slot that is connected to the motherboard chipset.

Hey! My led flashes for a few seconds and then stays on. Any fix for this issue?
@GlennBerrySQL8 күн бұрын
If it just flashed for a few seconds and then stayed on, then nothing happened. That usually means there was a problem reading the BIOS file from the USB drive (or it was the wrong file). You may have skipped a step or made some little mistake. You also might have downloaded a BIOS for a different model motherboard. ASUS has lots of models with similar names.

For people who are stuck with a solid green light do this: Download and open Rufus Boot selection: MS-DOS File System: FAT32 Cluster size: 8192 bytes Hit Start Copy the renamed bios file on the stick and flash the bios. I tried 2 usb sticks that I often use for installing a clean windows on systems, regular format in windows, placing the bios file and flashing did not work for me (tried everything), green light flashed few times and then became solid. Formatting the USB-sticks in windows was the issue. Tested with a Verbatim PinStripe USB 2.0 32 GB and a SanDisk Ultra 64GB USB 3.0.

@Culperrr24 күн бұрын
I don’t know how much help this will be, but for the 650E-E, BIOSRenamer says you need the “.CAP” at the end of the bios file when renaming it, but when I ran that, it automatically renamed it without the “.CAP”. I added the “.CAP” manually and my system would not blink after 2-3 seconds, after plugging the drive into my motherboard and hitting the bios button. It worked, though, after I renamed the file to not include “.CAP”. The blinking goes faster on the motherboard once it “captures” that bios file from your thumb drive and took only a few minutes for it to run its course.

My m.2 slot near to the cpu has no heat sink. But the one in between the gpu slot has heatsink. Which slot should i put it
@GlennBerrySQL27 күн бұрын
That depends on whether you have a PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 5.0 SSD. PCIe 5.0 SSDs get hot much more quickly. It also depends on your workload. Most desktop workloads don't hit their storage that hard for sustained periods. If you are doing stuff that really exercises your storage and your SSD is thermally throttling, then you will want a heatsink. Having good case ventilation is also important in that scenario.

Yes. Both the slot and the SSD are backwards compatible. They will fall back to the lowest PCIe version between the two. A PCIe 4.0 SSD will run at PCIe 4.0 bandwidth in a PCIe 5.0 slot.

Bios flash back LED flashed 3 times and is solid green. Is that an issue?
@GlennBerrySQLАй бұрын
Yes. That means it didn't work. It happens because the motherboard cannot find or read the BIOS flash file (or it is the wrong BIOS flash file for the motherboard). There are several reasons why that could have happened. ASUS makes several motherboards with similar names, so you might have the BIOS file for a different model. It is possible that you skipped a step in the process or did not follow the directions exactly. It could be a problem with your USB drive.

Can't I just have the faster m.2 with the cpu but without windows and install windows on the second faster or third drive, and the games on the first faster one
@GlennBerrySQLАй бұрын
Honestly, you can do it anyway you want to. Storage performance is usually not the bottleneck for gaming, as long as you are not using an old school magnetic hard drive. Once you get to an M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, the difference between the absolute fastest drive and the absolute slowest drive is barely noticeable for most gaming tasks (like loading levels, startup time, etc.)

@GlennBerrySQLАй бұрын
Nope. It typically takes 5-6 minutes to flash the BIOS. The BIOS Flash LED should be blinking during that whole time. What you describe means that the motherboard either can't read the BIOS flash file on the USB drive, or it can read it, but the file is not exactly what it is expecting to find. Maybe you downloaded a BIOS file for a different model motherboard. ASUS has many models with similar names.
