Why do I keep coming to this same video every year, wishing that there is a new sequel to this game. Even when I know that there is no point in even thinking about it :(

I've not played this game yet as it didn't feel like Prince of Persia to me. But your video made me curious because i love parcouring in PoP and AC games and this looks really nice and fluid like you said 😀, I will give it a try. Thanks!

I was and am still such a big fan of Cyan games! I grew up in the era of building my own PCs and though their games were so revolutionary! They definitely played a huge role in the future of games we know today

Was obsessed with the series during the Saturn era. Played disc 1 of Saga (that came with Sega Saturn Magazine) to death before eventually getting on Ebay years later. The music and atmosphere is unforgettable.

I was so close to finishing Riven without a guide. The marble puzzle was amazing and I couldn't figure out only one of the marbles. Myst games are co entrhalling that I always try to figure everything myself while playing them.

I didnt play Myst as a kid but I cvertainly knew about it and always though it looked cool. I briefly played Journeyman Project which was awesome! It had such a vibe and atmosphere I wanted to live in. I wish this style was more prevalent these days. Maybe you could say Resident Evil 1 on GameCube captures this vibe in a way very well, just in a horror environment. Once the zombies are killed in the current area you are basically exploring, learning a backstory, doing puzzles. I like that in Myst its not a shooter where you're ONLY goal is to kill enemies, you're in constant danger. Enemies could definitely be part of a game like these it but I want more stories that are essentially harmless adventures with exploration with periods of excitement and danger but where the main task is not dealing with an enemy.

Metroidvania shooter! You can find a double jump! There are very wide empty spaces, and some idiots with halberds are scurrying around them. Don't know. Didn't understand.

I started playing Myst in 1994 and love it! Love the music and the puzzles. The books are amazing and explain the background of the story. Truely the OG of escape rooms!

It’s worth noting the Saturn was pretty damn successful in Japan. It doesn’t hold a candle to the ps1’s numbers, but still. It did outsell the N64 there. That’s probably why 75% of the library is all Japanese exclusives. Panzer Dragoon series really set things apart. Such an incredible series

Such a pity that things fall apart and people leave. The lack of true realism was for me the key. By that I mean, the wonder was left behind. The graphics were always superb enough for me. A thorough well done to the various teams and creators. But most of all. I loved it because it was just me v it. Thank you for this video. Good Times had 👍🍻

I played all the Myst games, but I would not say I loved them as compared to other as compared to other puzzle or adventure games. My problem with it was sometimes I felt like the clues weren't clear enough to figure out without looking up tips

Myst artist not named Robyn Miller here… pretty good. Though missing some information. But it’s ancient history now and was fun to be the guy who did about half the art on it. Was interesting to see the entire history of the franchise. Good job.

Wonderful games - I finished all the <Myst games unaided and also others such as Time-lapse and Obsidian. Riven was my favorite though. I replayed Must when Realmyst came out. Don't understand why there isn't a version you can actually walk though with VR glasses so you can feel like you are really interacting with the worlds. If there is such a version I haven't found it I believe Obduction was released with this sort of interface.

In all honesty, combat was great for the game. It was just monotonous to a fault. But the way everything really revolved around seamless movement made me both satisfied and infuriated while playing. I just hoped that they could go back and explore the systems in this reboot. But with the new PoP game looking almost like a mobile game on steroids, I think its time I ended my wishful thinking.

I remember when Myst original released, it was amazing because of the photo like imagery, stereo ambient sounds and the mix of live action with computer generated graphics. Groundbreaking IMO. But most of all, the puzzles were very challenging. I would love to see a documentary on the puzzle creators and the incredible work they did to keep us engaged!

I agree with you all though honestly, I think this game is pretty good. Sure it has no fail states but so do some indie games and PoP 2008 feels like a precusor to those kinds of games. I also think it's better than Sands of Time for the reasons you stated plus, PoP 2008 uses bad combat as a way to punish the player for not mastering the timing and inputs where with SoT, it's just bad combat that lacks any depth and is full of endless enemy waves. Also, what I don't get is how this game is bad but shit like AC2 and the Uncharted games are better, sure they have fail states, but it is impossible to reach those fail states due to how brainless the "platforming" is.
