any tips on doing this with only about 5 inches of clearance as it's above a landscaping/rock hedge with the bottom half covered in vertical pvc vinyl strips? Used to be partical board with 1x4 edges at 45 but then covered up.. the bottom is definitely toast due to someone leaving a 2x4 piece of bat under it and it would get soaked and stay moist for days over the course of a few years.

Great video great idea but it was a waste watching because you don't show the extra poly or the finished product installed what's the sense-making a video from start without a finish .. This was a great video without an ending.

So where did the water come from. Some day somebody will post a vid on a true fix. Wtf now you will have new water sitting on pvc. Not a fix at all

Love that shelf and apron hiding the panel. I was hoping you'd have a clever solution for the top half of the door too. I'm trying to convert a 5 panel door by cutting in the middle of the panel.

The 1/2” ply runners are the only structural piece holding the hood up? How much does that weigh?
@kypicker17362 жыл бұрын
Great Job, have you heard of 2P-10 adhesive? It sets in 10 seconds and cures in 30 seconds. Trim guys use it a lot. You use a spray activator with it.

Yes sir I have used it. Great stuff

Have had a very similar repair on our bay years ago. Do not like bays. Looked good on paper but the way they are attached to a house and if just hanging out there without a separate roof overhang, I do not trust them. Born to leak. With the pvc base, as I also have ,there is not going to be any rot to show as with old ply wood. Who knows what is going on in there?

If you paint your wall the same color as your herringbone material, you won’t have to fret over seeing through the gaps created by boards not being perfectly flush with each other.

An aluminum crutch would work well as an adjustable leg to support the back.

Do you like your spray gun? Did you have to thin it? Did you just use latex or enamel (pro classic)?
@rawalz13 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill. It’s been awhile but I think I used the home right sprayer on that range hood It was recommended by The Handyman and it worked great for awhile but then it didn’t I’m gonna say it was because of my half hearted cleaning attempt. I may buy another one if that says anything. I used latex and that sprayer requires thinning which is kind of a hassle I’m thinking it was pro classic but I also use Sherwins water base alkyd a lot for furniture and cabinets

I have to find a good way to do this, theirs only 3-4 inches of clearance under mine.. would you recommend digging a trench ?
@rawalz13 жыл бұрын
That is a tough one Mike. My first instinct is to do just that to give yourself some room to work. Cut the sheet to the size of the bay and maybe attach a 1x2 to the front and sides pf the sheet to form an "lid"upside down lid. You can use the 1x2 to screw into the front and sides of the bay and maybe prop up the back with some scraps and use a right angle drill attachment to hit the middle supports. I would route an angle at the top of the 1x to shed water and use a quality caulk to seal the joint. Then just fill the screw holes and paint. The 1x just becomes another piece of trim.

So, i have the same problem and will have to dig down about six inches just to get there. So, screws or nail. Did you use a jack to place it ? Thanks

Hi Oscar. Thanks for watching and thank a for your question. I did not make an install video for the range hood. It was attached to to a tile wall with a French cleat

Do you think an electric/battery powered staple gun would work for this? Or the nailer gun was needed?
@rawalz13 жыл бұрын
Hi Brittany. I have used an electric stapler before and I don’t think it would have enough force to keep the panel in place

How did you mount the legs to the door?
@rawalz13 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I tapped into the wood that surrounds the interior of the hollow core door. Also there is 2x4 that runs between the legs on the back of the desk that helps with support and also allows screws to be run in from underneath that catch the wood surround
