any tips on doing this with only about 5 inches of clearance as it's above a landscaping/rock hedge with the bottom half covered in vertical pvc vinyl strips? Used to be partical board with 1x4 edges at 45 but then covered up.. the bottom is definitely toast due to someone leaving a 2x4 piece of bat under it and it would get soaked and stay moist for days over the course of a few years.

Have had a very similar repair on our bay years ago. Do not like bays. Looked good on paper but the way they are attached to a house and if just hanging out there without a separate roof overhang, I do not trust them. Born to leak. With the pvc base, as I also have ,there is not going to be any rot to show as with old ply wood. Who knows what is going on in there?

Do you think an electric/battery powered staple gun would work for this? Or the nailer gun was needed?

Hi Brittany. I have used an electric stapler before and I don’t think it would have enough force to keep the panel in place

I have to find a good way to do this, theirs only 3-4 inches of clearance under mine.. would you recommend digging a trench ?

That is a tough one Mike. My first instinct is to do just that to give yourself some room to work. Cut the sheet to the size of the bay and maybe attach a 1x2 to the front and sides pf the sheet to form an "lid"upside down lid. You can use the 1x2 to screw into the front and sides of the bay and maybe prop up the back with some scraps and use a right angle drill attachment to hit the middle supports. I would route an angle at the top of the 1x to shed water and use a quality caulk to seal the joint. Then just fill the screw holes and paint. The 1x just becomes another piece of trim.

So, i have the same problem and will have to dig down about six inches just to get there. So, screws or nail. Did you use a jack to place it ? Thanks

So where did the water come from. Some day somebody will post a vid on a true fix. Wtf now you will have new water sitting on pvc. Not a fix at all
