Dylans' bootleg series is epic and hard to keep up with..the early volumes and Scorceses' movie are terrific. Love me a bit of Can, I don't have Ege Bamyase, but have a few of theirs. New York is a great listen, a big return to form from him..I listened to that a lot when it came out, Romeo Had Juliet was my favourite. Just subbed.

Great score. In the early seventies I had the Grand Funk Live on cassette. (I was a kid "72 - "73) - I'm geezen... And a couple of years ago I found a pristine double album. Cool stuff. Peace on earth.

Just a fantastic collection. They are in beautiful condition. Fat Mattress will surprise you, not heavy blues at all. The wet listening experience wouldn’t be for me as well. Too many great records to comment on individually, but the surprises just kept coming. New sub here, will give you a shout out in a future video. Cheers.

That Thunderclap Newman album is ace. Pete Townshend produced it and played bass on it. Rick Grech played bass in Blind Faith. He was a founding member of Family, a great English psychedelic band. The Pretty Things best stuff are their psychedelic albums, SF Sorrow and Parachute.

Yeah thunderclap newman are fantastic. I dont understand why they only made this album though its huge succes. I definitely agree with the Pretty Things. SF Sorrow is great and their psychedelic stuff slightly underrated!

Fat Mattress is a lot more moody and pastoral than the Experience. I’m more familiar with their first album, but all their stuff is good. I think the idea of that playing records wet sounds better is a myth.

It was a great show, memorable and almost 50 years ago. Ronnie was barefoot throughout the performance.. Late August of 1977. It was Jo Jo's last show with the band before going home to Florida. She had that premonition that something terrible was gonna happen and wasn't in time to warn the band !

Great finds, especially The Band MoFi! Love Country Joe & the Fish.. not heard that one. Love SF Sorrow! What record shops did you visit when you were there? I’m going to Braunschweig & Berlin next week so hopefully find some good records. I usually visit Record Store Berlin, Da Capo and Franz & Josef Platten, but always eager to find new places too. Also plan on making a Berlin record store video while I’m out there. There’s so many great stores in Berlin it’s hard to choose. Great video, Jack

Hi Jack, Thank you very much for your kind words! Overall I checked out about 14 stores: I highly recommend Vinyl A Go Go as they had great records (e.g. The SF Sorrow) and very fair prices + the owner was super nice. Record Store Berlin had an amazing collection but was a bit pricy (especially comsidering the condition of some records). I wanted to Go to Franz and Joseph but ran out of time. Maybe next time. So far I am looking forward the hear/ See about your impressions from Berlin. I hope you have a Great time there and good findings! Cheers Flo

Great stash there! Spirits 12 Dreams is easily my favorite of their 4 classic records. It gets 5 of 5 stars by most fans. Truly great album beginning to end. Jazzy & psychedelic. Mr. Skin was a radio hit here in 1973. Quicksilver Messenger: the best of the 60's jam bands (they only had 2 albums out before they changed their sound) Happy Trails was a staple of FM radio here on the west coast in the late 1960's to early 70's. One of the ultimate stoner records of my youth. I've dug it for 50 years now, it never gets old. I occasionally find copies of this record and give them to younger collectors. Later they tell me how much they loved discovering it and their friends got into it too. James Gang Rides Again: the hardest version to get is the one with Walsh covering Ravels 'Bolero' during The Bomber - in between Closet Queen and Cast Your Fate To The Wind. The Bolero segment was cut out shortly after the albums release due to copyright issues so most pressings lack it. It eventually showed up on later pressings and the CDs. I think it 'makes' the song. Nuthin Fancy is great as well. My 2nd favorite Skynrd album. Second Helping blew me away first time I heard the whole album. The band was firing as we say 'on all 8 cylinders' when they made that one.

Hi there, thank your for the overview/ review! I knew that Quicksilver was quite a thing back then. Unfortuanetly I dont think they ever got a big fan base here in Germany. But as you said: Happy Trails is a classic and a great record to listen to. Also I didn't know about the James Gang variation of Rides Again.
