I have replaced it with the Fosi P3. Basically I think they are head to head even though they are different tubes 6k4 vs GE.

These things dropped to 69 USD, such a steal. I am but a poor peasant, but I have a pair of he400se's and several other headphones and noticed an immediate difference. Much much much better bass, and with EQ and just ONE notch up from 0, they sound fantastic- far better than I remember when I first bought them. Of course I'm running audio off a sound card line-out, and another ASUS essence card with RCA out. I pair this with art pro dj to listen to records every once in awhile.

I have douk audio u3 class a headphone amp. Similar look to yours, without the tubes. It sounds great. Decent staging and dynamics. plenty of power. I have a couple mini tube preamps (6k4 and ge5654 ) if i want to get some valve coloration. Love the mini stack

The 2 internal OP Amps can be upgraded to High Performance HiFi LM4562NA OP amps that will improve sound & reliability. They just plug into the existing sockets on the board. The 6K4 tubes are Chinese Military spec tubes that are reliable & used as buffers.

Years ago, a good friend of mine and I were listening to some vinyl albums through one of those classic cabinet stereos from the 1970s. I don't know what all we did but at one point we were listening to what we both, unoriginally, called a 'wall of sound'. Clear, punchy bass, excellent midrange and better than ddeent high end tones. We were probably 24/25 years old at the time. I'm 69 now and to be honest, in my own home I've been seeking that clear 'wall of sound' effect. I've had Sony Surround sound, I've had huge 12" bass woofer floor speakers, I've had a Denon 7.1 amp. No joy. I ordered this unit because I'm getting back into my vinyl and i don't need a 7.1 amp to play stereo albums. I also bought a pair of Klipsch RP 500M II and the Klipsch 10" subwoofer. I've got the speakers at one end of an 20' X 12' room. Ohhhhh my. Using this little amp I'm getting better sound than out of the Denon. I have found the 'wall of sound' I have been searching for. Pop, rock, classic, country, soundtracks.... ohhhh my! It all sounds so excellent. This is a great amp if you've got the right speakers.

Fosi Audio's dirty little secret. Loaded with cheap and fake components. I have brought one previously. Not really very impressive sounding, and after I looked inside I found out why. The NE5532 Op Amp chips are fake. Most likely a $.10 chip that is marked as a NE5532. Along with counterfeit Elna audio caps. The other electrolytic caps are a known bad Chinese brand (no good) but are dirt cheap. The hum is likely from these terrible caps in the power supply section. If you ever test the Chinese fake Op Amp chips, you find they have a poor slew rate and a not so good response. Fortunately, they put sockets in for these, and it is super easy to replace the fake chips with real ones. Replacing the caps is not so easy or cheap but can be done. That is why it is so cheap. You have to remember that Amazon gets about 35%-45% of the cost of the item they sell, so it is really a $25 preamp. You can't build a quality unit, ship to America or wherever, and sell it on Amazon for $40. It is basically a nice aluminum shell with crap inside, made to have a look of quality.

Bravo, congratulations to you, I have 2 fosi audio a3 amplifiers, bender, I replaced the 5532s on them with the original american ne5532s I bought from digikey, which I have, there was a lot of sound, I think it is necessary to replace the fakes with the original parts for all devices from China to give good performance.

In the Schiit website, they suggested to combine the Rekkr with Magni or Vali to get more power, but I still don't see any review trying to do that.
@Unicorn-ST

I realized I misunderstood the Schiit website. They mentioned powering the Rekkr with a Magni or Vali, meaning feeding it with them. I would really like to test the Rekkr. If I find it on my next trip to the USA, I'll buy it just to check the performance. However, I was actually expecting a speaker amplifier from Schiit with this form factor, but something more powerful. A good Class D implementation could have been a solution from my point of view.

Well, here is my 2 cents. I have had aiyima t9, fosi v3 (for a brief moment), aiyima a08 and smsl vmv a1. I think t9 and v3 are in the same tier although v3 is more powerful. I think t9 had a more enjoyable sound due to distortion tubes were creating. I also tube rolled and sound signature changed for something else. Aiyima a08 was better and more powerful than the 2 forementioned amps in every aspect but with an aftermarket power cable. The cable that it comes with was crap. And smsl vmv a1, if a08 was a tier above the v3 than a1 is 3 tiers above the a08. I have to admit that vmv a1 is low powerwise but comes with a quality power cable and it sounds good enough for a nitpicking audiophile that I am. All my experimentation I never used the onboard dacs and bluetooth since I was testing forntheir limits. My main amp is yamaha 2100 btw. which I would consider another 3 tiers up on top of vmv a1. I was still curious what I would get if I would get 2 za3s, but I think I won't bother, I wouldn't think I would be happy with the sound quality.

I think they have to use a wire like that because the amp is sending power to both the tweeter and mid base separately and this way you only have the one cable instead of multiple... I'm saving up to get me 4 of these for my shop.

I also felt lukewarm about this one, too. I wanted to upgrade from my da9....just because? You know how it goes. Anyway, it was just way too bright for me. I totally relate to endlessly playing around with the tone controls to make it sound "normal", and it changed depending on what I was listening to. Yes on some recordings it was nicely "sparkly" in the high end, but it just as easily tended towards shrill. I found myself feeling angry after a short time of listening to it - just agitated - maybe that is my reaction to listening fatigue :D Not for me. I'll stick to the da9 for now.

I chose this simply because it has AptX-HD from a Qualcom chip. Buying a separate bluetooth dac with the same quality is almost the same cost as the amp without powersuply. And I like the VU meter. Gives it sort of an analoge look.

I have the S2000MkIII's in my office and they may be my single happiest purchase ever. I went to the computer store intending to buy the s3000's but I thought they sounded much less cohesive. (I live in Cambodia where one buys something like this in a store.) After some deliberation I decided to try these, really just for something to burn some time before I had to walk out empty handed. And my goodness, what a surprise. They completely demolish my "main" system in the living room (at about a third of the money), and are especially good if I keep them scrupulously to their intended use case. They can do Michael Bay but that's not what they're built for and using them that way deprives a person of just how incredibly good they really are: Instead play them at 80db on a triangle with about 4 feet on each side, and about 3 feet into the room. The imaging is *astonishing*. I brought a friend into the office to sit in my chair and I told her that the speakers weren't running, and she should point to where the sound was coming from. We were listening to Que Pasa by Horace Silver. After a long, puzzled moment, she said, "Well the trumpet is coming from here (and pointed at a corner of my laptop screen), but the piano is coming from over here (pointing to another spot) and the sound of the drums is coming from here (pointing to a third place behind the system)." Then she looked at me a little longer and finally said, "How the hell are you doing that?"

I bought the non pro version and there is a problem, when the input is set to RCA and you stop the music, there are click sounds. Every minute I hear the click sound when no music. Only with RCA inputs. Is it solved in the pro version ? Then the VU Meter is more like an Amp meter. It doesn't move unless the volume is really high. I saw in the advert image on Amazon for the pro version that there is an adjustment screw on the pro version for the vu meter. But I cannot see where? Is the VU meter adjustment screw at the bottom of the unit?
