As a lifelong UNC fan and grad, as well as a Raptors parent who has dealt with the Jr Canes wreaking last minute havoc on the fall tryouts for two years in a row, I absolutely agree with Joe O's Raptors/Jr Canes and UNC/Duke analogy. Jr Canes and Duke can both go jump in a lake. And Triad hockey and NC State can join them.

I am bummed by some of these low-info/outdated takes about Duke MBB. This program *is* reloading in the portal in the Scheyer era, not just bringing in top freshman talent. Sion James and Maliq Brown have won us games already this year! Scheyer’s mix of young and old talent should win him ACC COY (just like Hubert last year) Just a few thoughts, keep up the good work
@OGTriangleMedia12 сағат бұрын
Not sure what was missed...especially for this season we have been adamant about their portal additions. Yesterday's pod in particular after their win over Pitt.
@tropicalia1212 сағат бұрын
@@OGTriangleMediafair enough. Joe G’s good points about how UNC’s and State’s deep March runs led to middling seasons included the comment that Duke reloads not in the portal but w/ freshmen. Duke fans are stoked that Jon actually has evolved that model. Flagg is the headline on this show and all others, but if we go far this year it’s because Jon realized we have been missing impact transfers like Sion, Maliq, and Mason. He saw Hubert nail it w/ Ryan and Ingram. Jacob Grandison did nothing and Ryan Young was important but he did not make Duke a title contender. Cooper, Kon, and Maluach would only take us so far. If we win anything of importance, it’s because Jon has evolved the freshman-focused year-to-year roster strategy that K commenced after missing on Harry Barnes.

Bryce Young is not my kind of player. I want my QB to have swagger and say "I am HIM" and "I am confident in myself" rather than "My trust is in God". I am sorry, not a religious person here. Religion is a human way to deal with life's uncertainty and the inability to control life. He is not going to get me excited, and I plan to have him sign a satanic poster at camp just to laugh.

You have to be careful what you ask for . Because getting a nother coach means success. You could end up worse case situation going south a d the program tanks. Look who has gone to the NFL playing for the pack . We want think ex pack players like Rivers is the answer . Chuck Amato was not, the answer except bri ging in greatest QB Phillip Rivers to Raleigh hen you have to fire that alum is not easy. Are you willing to risk. I do not blame for leaving but hate this transfer NIL portal crap . I think it has ruied college sports and will continue

No idea how Giglio interpreted Canales' statement about being able to use the whole playbook as being some sort of backhanded compliment, there's very few teams that have QBs that afford them that luxury. Every team schemes around their offensive limitations, including the QB; even the Brady-era Patriots ran offenses that suited his strengths and limited his weaknesses (can you imagine Brady running the Cam-era RPO plays?) Earlier in the season the playbook was clearly limited to trying to make the reads easier on Bryce, but since his return you've seen it steadily open up as the almost non-existent downfield game suddenly began to flourish when he started trusting his reads and just ripping the ball. So Dave is praising the fact that he could call any play he wanted and he wouldn't have to worry if Bryce would be able to deliver the ball wherever it needed to go, and it's high praise indeed.

3:30 it was January of 2000 that the White Hurricane hit the East Coast. Raleigh got like 2-1/2 ft of snow, Columbia got over 15 inches, and even Myrtle Beach got over a foot of snow and people were building snowmen on the beach and the piers out there.

I actually had a Christmas party in Andover Massachusetts that year and while we were having like 6 to 8 in of snow and it was kind of difficult for people that were driving Honda preludes Raleigh was burning. I told my wife to evacuate to the beach and take the kids. That didn't happen

The QB issue this year was a fluke. Who knew Greyson was “done” before we got him! The offensive coordinator was a huge mistake. He was the worst. Now we have a talented QB and our coordinator has to be better than the one we had the last 2 years. Better days are ahead. Don’t give up on coach D just yet.

@JamesThomas-dz4vj13 сағат бұрын
Don't give up "just yet"? It's been TWELVE years. What does "yet" mean at this point? It's ALWAYS someone else's fault. It's ALWAYS the staff around Donut Dave that is scapegoated as the "real problem". Players and coordinators have come and gone in 12 years - the one constant is Dave Doeren. How some folks continue to support this clown is just a testament to how deeply losing runs in the DNA of this football program. Remember the 2022 season? Devin Leary was back, and we were said to have had the best roster in Doeren's tenure at that point (even better than the 2017 squad). What happened? Oh yeah - we began the year ranked #13 and ended up mediocre as usual. Gotta learn to aim higher, folks. The great programs wouldn't stand for the lack of significant results on the field. If we want to reach that status, we can't settle either.
