So you telling me 🍩 Dave isn't a good coach outside the UNC game 🤯
@chucklander54756 күн бұрын
If we want to take State football to the next level, unfortunately, we will not be able to do it with DD. I really like him as a person, though. He has had 11 years to win an ACC title which is plenty of time for a good coach.

Yes, we're done with Doeren. NIL is ruining college sports, but Doeren was an awful gameday coach long before NIL.

NIL isn’t ruining college sports, nc state just isn’t taking part and it shows. They spend less than their regional contemporaries like unc, uva, Clemson, South Carolina, Va tech.

So how is NIL ruining college sports? So you were ok with the programs making millions off these kids & fans but it’s bad when that wealth gets shared?

Nil is fine! But let’s have some guardrails some caps how about some sort of rules.

Dave Doeren has zero aspirations for NC State football. Zero. He never ever talks about playing in Charlotte on that first Saturday in December. Never fires his team up. Never. Only interested in playing in a bowl game and then plays conservative with zero creativity on offense and then loses with some bs defensive schemes. Imagine if our football team played like a hungry, tenacious, relentless, idgaf pack of wolves? You know? Like a pack of wolves seeking to whom they can devour. Dave is just mediocre.

Thank you! Finally, I see someone who actually gets it - someone who actually wants to aim for greater things rather than accepting the clown show Doeren puts on the field year after year. He's a joke, and the program is a joke - period.

@JamesThomas-dz4vj I want us to win more than anybody but Doeren is not the answer. So many great coaches out there and we're stuck with mediocrity.
@GregorsOutdoors3 күн бұрын
In the recent trend of buying program relevance, the NC State higher-ups are not prepared to make that level of commitment to football while the ACC is crumbling.
@wolfpackmba6 күн бұрын
Yes, just done with Doeren. We’ve paid him $1.7M for each ACC win this year and was fully embarrassed several times and twice on a national stage. He sub .500 in ACC play and finds ways to give up leads in games. We can talk about defensive schemes, but we can’t run the 3-2-6 defense anymore….meaning let a G5 team run 326 yards on us in front of a national audience…. #DoneWithDoeren

Dave Doeren is a Revolutionary War general. He’s all about lining up in formation and doing it the dignified way (win or lose). He’s immune that people don’t do that anymore because soldiers died unnecessarily and there’s simply a better way to do it

Hmmm. I’m probably off, but Tony Gibson wins with Dave Huxtable’s recruits, but can’t seem to recruit well while at NC State. Is this the reason he never became a head coach until now?

If Dave is able to turn it around this year and win 9+ games, he can stay. But Roper is going to have to call the game more like Drink did, and our DC will have his hands full. The returning talent on defense was already mediocre before we lost the potential 4 starting DBs to the portal. The OL will have to find a way to get decent push, and we'll have to expand the passing game and lean into it. We have some decent talent at RB but the returning WRs have talent and CJ Bailey has the potential to be SPECIAL. No more predictable draw plays when everyone knows it is coming.

Duke full strength and healthy would have still been a 3 touchdown underdog......do I wish Duke would have played better....of course....but as a life long Duke fan I am not surprised at the outcome

Pretty good calls. I think Dave screwed himself by saying it wasn't a rivalry. Then blowing their wad to beat UNC to get bowl eligible. ECU built confidence with that 4th down stop and causing that missed field goal. Then NCSU has those 2 great drives to go up 21-20. I don't know about rosters and coaches but ECU was depleted as much as NCSU was short coaches. Anyway, a botched call took our go ahead lead and so we had to do it with Harris. Our seniors had a bad taste from that L in Greenville because of a missed field goal. I'll take flak about that Charlotte loss because nothing said here is anywhere near what was said out of Greenville. Tha L cost Mike his job. NCSU is going to have to do what we dud this year and cut bait and move on.

The QB issue this year was a fluke. Who knew Greyson was “done” before we got him! The offensive coordinator was a huge mistake. He was the worst. Now we have a talented QB and our coordinator has to be better than the one we had the last 2 years. Better days are ahead. Don’t give up on coach D just yet.

@JamesThomas-dz4vj16 сағат бұрын
Don't give up "just yet"? It's been TWELVE years. What does "yet" mean at this point? It's ALWAYS someone else's fault. It's ALWAYS the staff around Donut Dave that is scapegoated as the "real problem". Players and coordinators have come and gone in 12 years - the one constant is Dave Doeren. How some folks continue to support this clown is just a testament to how deeply losing runs in the DNA of this football program. Remember the 2022 season? Devin Leary was back, and we were said to have had the best roster in Doeren's tenure at that point (even better than the 2017 squad). What happened? Oh yeah - we began the year ranked #13 and ended up mediocre as usual. Gotta learn to aim higher, folks. The great programs wouldn't stand for the lack of significant results on the field. If we want to reach that status, we can't settle either.

In his 13th year? Why does he deserve that much time? He wasn’t a proven winner before state either- he had TWO YEARS of HC experience
@jebrown19804 күн бұрын
@ohhaical I'm not sure what his time at NIU has to do with it? Anytime you hire an "up and comer," they're likely not at the previous school for long. Also, Dave has been here for 12 average to pretty damn good seasons (compared to our history). Look, I've never liked his offensive philosophy with a 2nd half lead, but that's common with most coaches from a defensive background. I don't like his often 'dick-ish' comments to media and fans. I also hate how he runs hot or cold getting his teams up for games. UNC, yes. Clemson, FSU, Louisville, usually yes. ACC teams and ECU that we should be expected to beat, not always. Sure, we win most of those, most years, but we never seem to come out and dominate. These are also the 1 or 2 trip-ups that have kept Dave/NC State from 10+ win seasons and ACCCG. That's really about it for negatives, and not uncommon for any program with mid-tier talent, spending, NIL, etc. As for his positives, he runs a pretty solid, consistent program that develops lower recruited players. We don't have the spending and talent to consistently win at a higher rate than we have under Doeren. Our overall program spending/investment isn't much better than it was under TOB, but Doeren is outperforming that (and TOB had 2 NFL QBs). I truly believe that if he would maintain a more aggressive approach to offense, that can sometimes cover up our other deficiencies, then he can take the program up another level. What I'm really referring to is getting off to faster starts in the 1st quarter and not sitting on meager leads in the 2nd half, believing the D will always be there to bail us out. *Gibson was a very good DC from a scheme/play calling POV, but the talent level has been eroding away each season he's been in charge.* We can't trust holding on to a 10 pt lead in the 2nd half. Doeren needs to push that threshold way higher before trying to sit on the ball and run clock.

@@jebrown1980 I bring up NIU because I would give a coach with a consistently winning pedigree much more leeway than I would a coach that had two decent years as his only prior HC experience. Also- compare Tom Obrien’s results year by year against Dave’s, and you’ll find they look awfully similar. Except for ToB won back to back bowl games before we fired him. Dave hasn’t won one in since 2017- 0-5. That was also in an era with a *much* more competitive ACC, not the conference that just got steamrolled by SMU. Spending and talent take momentum, and build with success. There’s a reason we don’t fundraise like other schools you mentioned. Continue to support him if you want, but change requires fans to vote with their wallets and attendance. We didn’t renew our season tickets, and won’t until there’s a change at head coach. I have many friends that are state fans that did the same.

@@jebrown1980 and I agree with your media and fans comments. If I addressed my boss or employer the way Dave does the media and fans, I’d be out of a job. He’s full of arrogance and excuses, never willing to call out specifics and take accountability. Failure is the best opportunity for rapid improvement, but only if you attack it with the correct mindset- which Dave doesn’t appear publicly to have.

You have to be careful what you ask for . Because getting a nother coach means success. You could end up worse case situation going south a d the program tanks. Look who has gone to the NFL playing for the pack . We want think ex pack players like Rivers is the answer . Chuck Amato was not, the answer except bri ging in greatest QB Phillip Rivers to Raleigh hen you have to fire that alum is not easy. Are you willing to risk. I do not blame for leaving but hate this transfer NIL portal crap . I think it has ruied college sports and will continue
