There were several references to Jack Benny in the Mark Hamil episode where Homer was a bodyguard, I loved that episode for that reason.

In the '30s Betty Boop was much criticized because she looked like a “young prostitute”, even so her character was very nice and the drawing continued to be passed on.....

Pardon the pun, but I went down a very deep rabbit hole to find out about Arthur Q Bryan after listening to an old Christmas radio show (NBC's "It's A Wonderful Life" as Clarence the Apprentice Angel) He used the Elmer Fudd voice in the play, and I had to find out who it was. ...and here I am!

There was a black and white cartoon when a fat guy with a thin mustache would say yeesssss, jut like this. I do this voice for my little one and he loves and imitates it too. I feel like it was on pop eye, anyone remember?

Did Bea Benedaret ever do dramatic roles?

Yes, she appeared on Arch Oboler’s horror album Drop Dead, playing a terrified woman whose car stalled on the train tracks. Her husband, Gene Twombly, did the sound effects for the record. They first met working on Jack Benny’s radio show.

Rochester was a lot bigger than ppl realize. he got second billing to the star Jack Benny. In those days that was huge. A black man with billing higher than the other white actors. Jack also fought for Rochester to go to Restaurants and clubs that black ppl were not...ahem...regular customers. Also his public works helped alot of ppl...he was a awesome guy.

You could argue he was the first modern black comedian. Earlier than Redd Foxx and Moms Mabley even

You can see how the Ritz's inspired so many overcooked New York comics like Jerry Lewis, Berle, Caesar, and Silvers. Lots of yelling, lots of pulling faces.

I never knew before seeing this that Frank Nelson voiced the sleazy motel clerk from the Garfield special, and growing up I'd never even made the connection to the "Jack Benny suite" reference. Thanks for the excellent video!
