I have a question: Many pattern drafters and drafting books use proportional numbers. I am 81, perfectly fit, slim but the top of my back is slightly rounded (too much work hunched over small items using magnifying glasses) and I tried 3 different methods of block pattern now. The 1st one was very simple to do, the 2nd one was so complicated I gave up mid-way, the 3rd one was so-lala and now I am going to try your method. Basically, all of them are the same except that the elongated back measurement I have also left me in the draft with an excessivley elongated front. The 1st simple method was the best: I made the block, made the toile, it was short at the back and I added space at the top for the rounded shoulders. When standard relations of figures are used, it distorts if one is not the "normal" figure. How can one include this anormality in the first draft? Also, my boobs are no longer as pert and high as they used to be, so the apex is off, of course. From Northern Germany.
@PatternStudio1014 күн бұрын
If you find this method easy, go ahead and use it! There’s no right or wrong way. Just make sure to adjust the fitting process to suit your body posture. That way, you can create block patterns that truly fit you. When it comes to fitting, the goal isn’t just achieving the perfect fit. Clothing should also help conceal any areas you might want to downplay. So, it’s all about finding a balance between a good fit and coverage.

i’ve seen some pattern makers make the back knee and hem 2 inches wider than the front as opposed to only 1 inch wider. what’s the difference in fit?
@PatternStudio10113 күн бұрын
@@jliving02 That doesn’t change the fit. The inseam and out seam will be more towards the front. If the pant legs are wide, it’s not very noticeable.
