Our family lived in an apartment on E. Rock Springs Road, zip code 30306, between Emory University and Morningside. I was just barely six years old, my sister was four. I remember seeing so many downed trees, thousands of foot-long icicles, and experiencing utter silence. We had candles and we thought it was fun, wondering why mom and dad complained or worried. Now, I'm 58, lived in the Ozarks in the past and braved a few blizzards with over a foot of snow yet I've never seen so much ice and frozen landscapes.

My mother was the 8 year old child in the home, I thank nothing but God that the murderers didn't intrude the home and harm her. I am truly sad that this happened because I never got to meet Thelma, nor Pam. My mother always talked about this story and It made me feel some type of way. What was the purpose of this? My mother truly misses them. I wish I could've met them.

That town has grown a lot since I lived there!! Would you happen to be related to Mike Baugh? He worked at Precise Packaging (Put plastic spoons, forks, & knives (sometimes, napkins) when I worked there. Not in '79, but a few years later). If I'm not mistaken, he had a sister(in-law?) who worked there too. Anyway, I loved the video! Now, do one to put together with this one to show the differences from then and now!

We lived near Rome ga when this hit in rural area and power went out mark 13th and stayed out 2 weeks we couldn't watch any news coverage and had no idea what was happening around us. We finally ran a speaker from my pickup truck to inside our home where we could listen to news a few days in to the blizzard.

It's crazy how this was filmed 20 years before I was born, yet I recognized so many locations in this video. It's also surreal seeing the same restaurant that my grandpa owned at 5:48. Dad told me so many stories about it, but I never thought I'd get to see it here on video.

Another horrific winter storm in Georgia took place in March 1993. Heavy snow started blanketing the south, with some areas of Georgia receiving up to 35 inches of snow. And…Back in 1973, Georgia was pummeled with ice, snow, sleet, and rain, causing hundreds of thousands of people in the South to lose power. At the time I lived in Woodstock where we had 7” of ice.

Well it covered all of metro Atlanta as it is known today and I assume further out too but I was only 10 and there was no power for tv so I don’t remember how much of the state it covered.

I remember this storm. I was a month shy of my 10th birthday. We had to take the food out of the fridge and freezer and put it on the back porch. The local hospital had to given a generator to continue keeping the ER running and we cooked on the bbq grill. It was great fun for a kid but a Royal pain in the rear for the grown ups. Two months later my little hometown east of Atlanta was hit with a powerful tornado that practically destroyed it.

Two years after the film was made I made my first trip to Griffin. My 1st grade class at Terry Mill Elementary School in Atlanta took a field trip, and we rode a train from downtown Atlanta to Griffin and back. The first and last time I was ever on a moving train. Half a century later, I moved to Griffin, and here I shall remain.

I remember this storm! Barely 8 years old and my mom (deceased) and my identical twin brothers, also deceased) were living off of Westlock Circle in a two story house, and us three went to Clifton Elementary School (now closed), we could walk to school and to Gresham Park in Decatur. Us three got into our mom's California king sized bed and couldn't sleep due to the pine trees snapping all night long. I remember one tree just missing Mom's Oldsmobile Delta 88! I don't remember how long we were without power, but I do remember Mom feeding us using her fondue pot! 11 months later, we moved to Gwinnett County.. in Snellville on Skyland Drive.

I lived in Griffin in 1976 when I was 11. I lived on Ruth St, near Experiment. Other than my immediate neighborhood, my memories are very hazy. There was a fruit stand (I think more of a small store that sold fruit) that we could walk to; on Old Atl Hwy I think. I was hoping I might see the Pizza Hut in this video, that's the only major building I think I'd remember. But I didn't spot it. Did I miss it?

I was looking for someone I might recognize but nope. Where I grew up you could see the Dundee sign across the field of the experiment station, I used to love when they decorated it for Christmas. My mom's dad and aunts and uncles all worked in that mill long before I was ever thought of. It was a damn crying shame when it shut down.

My friend is having the same issue right now…my friend posted up by his car with a water gun for about an hour then fell asleep. I suggested we taped white paper in the window so he couldn’t see his reflection. We did one window and he the robin moved to another so we will put paper in all the windows now I guess? My friend pays for the unlimited washes from Crew car wash…

We were newly married and at my wife's house in Roswell. Her parents had come, against my recommendation from Birmingham. 5 days and 2 1\2 ft of snow later they tried to leave and couldn't exit the subdivision. After coming back from failed attempt to leave we settled in to watching the wood burn in the fireplace. My new father in law suggested several times that I needed to go bring in more firewood. He reluctantly brought in more firewood after I explained that I had kept the fireplace going for 5 days and I would throw his ass outside if he didn't go get more wood. Happy Family !
