For those wondering: Kmise MSRP is ~$100 (based on Amazon and less than $100 in some cases) Ohana MSRP is ~$400 (based on Ohana's webpage. no online orders, you need to find a dealer) Duke's MSRP is ~$400 (Based on Duke's webpage but you can order direct from their webpage) I have to "shop with my bank account" so it's a Kmise for me...for now.

Great video. The first 4 string instrument i bought was a kmise banjolele from amazon. I could not get it to stay in tune, the strings kept jumping out of the bridge . I took it to a local guitar store to see if they could help. On his advise i returned it to amazon for a refund and i bought a makala tenor ukelele. A year down the line i now have a barnes and mullins banjolele. And today i received a 50 year old musima banjolele from ebay. It was made in the former east Germany and i have to say for £50 it is an amazing instrument. Im fitting new strings tomorrow...

Thanks! Exactly what I want to learn more of- chord melody! Also, any hints as to best fit into bluegrass jam with a ukulele?? It is not a traditional instrument and doesn’t have the volume but I hope to play
@fourstringstrummer20 күн бұрын
Some purists may turn their nose up but I find most music people really like them and are generally pretty welcoming. It's not a banjo - so u need to get past people saying "why don't you play a real banjo?" There's lots of reasons to play a banjo uke. It's a different instrument - same way a uke isn't a guitar. Doesn't make it less - it's something different. A trumpet isn't a trombone either.
@sarahandrew657819 күн бұрын
@@fourstringstrummer Thanks, There were several ukuleles at the bluegrass slow jam which I was glad to see. One difficulty is the volume difference with our nylon strings. I am using a concert with a high G, trying to contribute, similar to the mandolin, within the majority of guitars.
@fourstringstrummer19 күн бұрын
@sarahandrew6578 a banjo uke with a resonator may help or a small amp if it's a big issue for you. It is tough to compete with a bunch of dreadnaught guitars, mandolins and 5 string banjos for sure!
