Somewhere in the Perris / Nuevo / Lake elsinore area would be great for a drag strip an big oval track for Nascar . The place sold for 1/2 A Billion or just over $500 million dollars. I will miss is been going there since seventies but guys there is no way it's being saved the new development is coming. There is no money running a speedway on land worth $8 million per acre..

Irwindale is so lame. Small track. Auto Club Speedway was so much better. To bad that ones gone and now were left with this lame one.

What people that want it gone don't realize is that if racers don't have a place to go race, they take to the streets, endangering others and themselves.

I drive by the site where the Fontana race track used to be, the drag strip is gone and there is a giant warehouse where the parking lot used to be. I live in Fontana and I watched the track being built years ago I remember when it was Kaiser Steel, watching all the cement trucks nd constuction crews coming in and making it a race track, for the past year or so I've seen the demo of the parking lots and the warehouse going up. I worked as a mechanic since was 15 and worked in automotive media for a few years and retired during the pandemic not surprising I've seen the Fontana-Bloomington-Rialto area go from rural to urban and now industrial-warehouse. Had my fun at the various tracks, events and races even rode my motorcycle on the former Pirate Speedway track years ago.

During the past two years, Drag Strips and Speedways across the country have been getting closed down. We should be out there fighting to keep the racetracks alive and prevent them from being destroyed. For the past month and half, I have been trying to figure out what caused people to suddenly hate NASCAR. Those guys and girls are out on track, racing their stock cars and enjoying themselves. Now is the time for Stock Car Racers and Street Racers in all states to stand together and start fighting for the places that they've called home for the past 40 years. Maybe those Corprate people will change thier minds, when they see more Street Racing taking place, because of their huge mistake. I'm worried that those clowns in suits might decide to visit Las Vegas in the future and close down the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This is the only racetrack in the state of Nevada, and I will be sure to fight in order to keep it alive.

Sounds like the owners paid their pockets before paying the track that made them rich. With the amount of money they made over the years, there should be a track fund by the owner that keeps it open well past their own life spans.

This video creates way more questions than it answers. The video mentions the Irwindale "promoter", but it does not say who owns the facility, if it is paid for or has a mortgage, and if the operating costs don't cover the income. Does the property owner want to sell the facility to retire or just re-investment it into an industrial property to make more money? And if they find a title sponsor, who will own and run the facility? Why isn't the Track Promoter or Owner involved in this video? And where does our "Sign the Petition" monetary donation with this video go to? It actually sounds like the only way to save the track is for someone to by it outright from the current property owner, and to operate it in a more profitable manner with additional activities like concerts, festivals, etc. Somewhat the same problems that other SoCal tracks like Autoclub Speedway and Willow Springs Raceway have encountered. However, many racetrack facilities in urban areas these days can't succeed without local government support, like Laguna Seca Raceway has done by becoming a County Park facility. The only way most racetracks can survive these days is to have that local government support and tax breaks because the tracks draw visitors to the community to spend money at hotels, restaurants, gas stations, et all. The first place to start would be to work with the city and county to make it tax exempt and perhaps purchase it, just like the Pamona Fairplex.

You want to feel that adrenaline, go to a theme park! i can't for the life of me understand what's so special about this concept? When was the last time you made it somewhere with all that wasted horsepower without putting the lives and property of others in jeopardy. We live in a metropolitan city where all we have is nonstop traffic. It doesn't matter what time of the day it is. so, the point of having a car with so much horsepower is pointless. Traffic is so heavy I literally drive a scooter and I'm likely faster and more affordable than even my tesla!!!

I live a mile from there. I hear the fireworks every week and sometimes get to hear the cars roar. I hope it can be saved. A huge industrial development was already completed across the street from the track just recently. Let’s hope that is not what becomes of our beloved race track.

we should setup a gofundme and get some public funds earmarked from the government so the owners can keep all the profits when it re-opens

If the speedway goes so will the drag strip. I'm in my 70's and a SoCal native. I remember all the drag strips and other raceways that were all over the greater L.A. area back in the 50's-80's. I along with buddies used to live at Lions in Wilmington on weekends. What a blast!! OC raceway, Irwindale (not the current track but a well-known prior facility), Fontana, Riverside Raceway.... the list is long!. All gone, eaten up by developers over the years. The only track that remains and seems stable is Willow Springs but it's remote being out by Edwards AFB. I wish you luck but the handwriting is on the wall. Damn shame.... ☹☹

If they close are speedways. Then they should expect what legally happens behind permitted fences, to happen illegally on the streets.

I used to race quarter midgets at Orange Show Speedway, and a few years ago they paved over it the quarter midget track to make it an amazon parking lot. Irwindale Speedway took in the quarter midget club and let them build a track in the parking lot. Quarter midgets is kids racing ages 5-16. People wouldn’t stand for that if it was kids baseball or soccer.
