I agree with almost EVERYTHING you said. I know you touched on one thing regarding changing source material and I know that instance mentioned is true but in regard to characters with decades of exposure in pop culture I do feel it’s a kind of slap in the face of the writers. There’s a right and wrong way to do things. Scooby-Doo was stained because of Velma and it’s the same with heroes. It’s okay to have a different race of an already established hero if they’re done like Amadeus Cho for Bruce Banner or Miles Morales for Peter Parker. But purposely changing those original characters and calling them the same exact version is just wrong. Other than that you hit the nail on the head and that’s the way I’ve felt for at least the last decade. No one can be happy anymore and just use multi-million dollar companies as justification for their hating.

Well nothing new. But at least he is honest about being a PoS. But the hardcore assassin creed fans of whatever will still buy everything they make. Thanks God GoG exist but unfortunately some developers/publishers avoid it like a plague blaming piracy for a low quality game or for anti consumer practices 🤣 So I am forced to buy from Steam whatever I can't find there. Steam seems like the lesser evil when compared with other things like Origin.

oooooh I like this series! Definitely appreciate the analysis of the details on each cover (truly had no idea of the existence of the second iteration!) I'm with Redwolf on this one, I always thought the guy behind the books was Jake Rogers, and that lent a sort of "urgent cry for help" edge to the design I liked. That said, because we never see him in the game in any way, I always felt somewhat disconnected from him, which makes the cover a bit unnerving if one keeps the "yeah that's the dead dude" thought process intact.

OK, if you’d like to have a common respectful dialogue, I gladly will. As far as the last of us two goes, I bought the game. I didn’t let peoples politics influence me about the game. I personally didn’t think it was that great because for the amount of time about seven years between the two games, the actual gameplay itself was barely improved on it. All all they really added to the game was a quick event during combat. And the ability to crawl, which doesn’t have a lot of uses in the game it’s really cosmetic. Switching top topics to the toxicity now , are you open to the idea that people are just sick and tired of having all this stuff or whatever you wanna call it being shoved in everyone’s face. I would argue. It’s the forceful wokeNess and the constant stream of woke propaganda and gamers are just tired of it. People playing video games or clearly adamantly against it and yet it keeps being shoved into everyone’s games. Why do you think there’s such a negative response to it?
@GoobaandJetpack
@GoobaandJetpack 29 күн бұрын
We can agree to disagree on TLOU2. I personally thought the combat was greatly improved from part 1 with the ability to dodge and go prone. But I'm aware that game isn't for everyone. On the other topic, in what way are these things shoved in people's faces? When you say wokeness I assume you're talking about LGBTQ+ people and people of color, people who exist in the real world and therefore should exist in video games as well. If you're upset with these people merely existing in games, that's a personal issue.

I'm agreed on the fact that more the time pass and more the gaming community become toxic. I dunno how it's look like in the others community from Sony, Microsoft and others but, as I'm myself a Nintendo player, I can admit the Nintendo community is very toxic and cringe since few years during the Nintendo Switch era. Whatever the critics that you want say about Nintendo or the Nintendo Switch even if there is a lot of argument, there is always somes bad faith people among them who come to disrespect your comment and are annoyed that you say what you think about Nintendo and their Switch despite we don't live in a country who censors freedom of expression and they throw their salt on you because they consider their idol Nintendo as a sort of God or something and if you dare to say we get too much Mario game this years while we don't have much and nothing for somes others Nintendo franchise that we still waiting since 7 years, you get harassed and insulted because it's like a blasphemy from their eyes to say something negative about their love of their life Nintendo so, sadly, the Nintendo community become more a sort of sect than a gaming community when we see their bad state of mind. And I don't even know how it's possible that the Nintendo community can be so toxic and blind because they claim Nintendo and the Nintendo Switch are more better than Sony and Microsoft (and insulte them and their consoles sometimes) and that we miss nothing on the Switch due to Nintendo who never loose innovation but, excuse me, released more than 10 Mario and Pokemon, 7 Zelda games and 6 Kirby games Vs Do nothing for made any new game, Wii U/3DS port or remastered game about Star Fox, F-Zero, Kid Icarus and Tomodachi Life game, just 3 Metroid games, 2 Donkey Kong Country port but still waiting for a new fresh game, 1 new fresh Animal Crossing and others since 7 years is called innovation? To be honnest I don't see where Nintendo do innovation exactly because, turning in circle among Mario, Pokemon, Zelda and Kirby from their bud at Pokemon Compagnie/Gamefreak and HAL while they put their legs on the table and do nothing for somes and not much for their others franchise isn't innovation but rather laziness due to the Nintendo Switch who still get a lot of good sales so we can understand Nintendo as why to bother to made more various game than another Mario, Pokemon, Zelda and Kirby when you know you can get easily a lot of money from them just by release the same franchise on it even if it's a old very popular video game port instead give a chance to another less popular game who isn't Mario, Pokemon, Kirby and Zelda itself? Plus I don't hide that, getting too much the same franchise on the Switch, end up to become borring and not much interesting anymore so, between the 6 Mario game released this years, only the new Mario Party was the most attractive Mario game I can found unlike others because we will not complaint about the fact that it's one of the rare time into the Mario franchise that you can play as a villain for the whole game like Bowser, Bowser Jr and their crew than to be locked with mainly Mario and Luigi such Mario & Luigi RPG game, Paper Mario TTYD, Mario Vs Donkey Kong, Luigi's Mansion 2... That why I don't feel anything about the next Nintendo console and I'm not excited about Switch 2 rumours so I will not buy their next console unless Nintendo give me a good reason because there was some stuff I was hoping for the Nintendo Switch but Nintendo didn't go in the right way with the fact that they get more fun to sue random people such Pocket Pair for Palworld just for somes ridiculous excuse and others than taking care about what they release on their console without forget the paying online despite the online was for free during the Wii, 3DS and Wii U era as Iwata was against a paying online politic for the Nintendo console (and the worst part it made me laught about it because the toxic Nintendo kids claim Nintendo is supperior than Sony and Microsoft but Nintendo just lowered themself in the same level from Sony and Microsoft by follow Sony and Microsoft path by made pay the online on their console as well) and the Nintendo community toxic behavior don't help as well for attract me to their next console when we see somes desesperate case like the Pokemon community who throw hate on every Pokemon games they got but still ask for more Pokemon game just for throw their salt on the next game so what the point to ask a new Pokemon game if it just for throw hate on it? It should be better to stop asking for more Pokemon games, nah? I really regret the good old Nintendo community in the past when the community was more friendly, smart, have more taste into video and less toxic than now which their are dumb like a f*ck, so toxic and don't have too much taste in video game by claim everything is bad if it's not a Mario game.

I can totally relate to this. A big reason I've stopped playing AAA games for the most part since 2014 is that they're too big and bloated to connect with for over 30+ hours. Most quests/objectives outside the main quest just feel like padding. They felt like padding in LA Noire over a decade ago too. More is not better. Quality over quantity is better. Give me 8-10 great hours over 30-50 okay hours any day of the week.
@GoobaandJetpack
@GoobaandJetpack Ай бұрын
Completely agree. Games can be long with lots of side content and still be worth your time (I would say God of War is a good example of this) but so many games today add all this extra content that's only there to pad the runtime. I'll take a shorter, but good quality game any day.

Games have become stuffed with “this is the biggest world” or “these are the best graphics” type ideals, there is no innovation other than “I made this look more real” so when indie games come out on steam the good ones fly to the top of the charts, and its not because they look the best, or have the most content, its because of some new fun mechanic or idea the developers have implemented or created, but then those mechanics get stolen and shoved into AAA games if they arent too busy trying to make live service single player online only games 😅
@GoobaandJetpack

So true, we don't need the biggest world or the best graphics anymore. Current hardware can make almost anything look good, I don't think anyone is that excited by pretty graphics nowadays. Just make a game fun and innovative with a good story and no one will care what the graphics look like.

The point I'm trying to make in this video is quantity doesn't always equate to quality. A game can be a 100 hours long, but if that 100 hours is stuffed full of repeating objectives and uninspired side content, thats boring and I would much rather play a shorter game that was fully fleshed out. It doesn't mean that all long games are bad and short games are good, it's just a trend that I've noticed and wanted to comment on.

I like big open world games, but I think the issue isn't so much the open world, but they just often don't add anything. Horizon zero dawn, spiderman, elden ring, tears of the kingdom there is a purpose to it, a lot to do in them and explore but maybe a bit bloated. But elderscrolls/fallout and such you want a big open world as it's part of the charm/point, your not following a story a lot of the time, the above games the story is the main goal, but in games that really need an open world, the main story is almost the side story. Skyrim's two main stories are side stories to all the other stuff you do.
@GoobaandJetpack

@wolfwing1
@wolfwing1 Ай бұрын
@@GoobaandJetpack yeah, on the good side I would put elderscrolls/fallout and similar rpg, on the medium side the ones above, as some size is good, especially for the kind of game, but feel bloated, and then on the bad side is, far cry or assasin's creed. i think assasin's creed open world peaked around origins, big, but a lot to do, then you get odyssy where I barly touched 3/4 of the areas, and even then only because I had to do so to level up, and felt really bloated. Far cry 1, was huge, but it was smaller sequenchle maps, that felt big. 2 it had a great atmosphere that I don't think any of the other assasin's creeds since have had. in 2 you felt like there was stuff to do in the world and it felt alive, diamonds to find, stuff to get unlocking new weapons, and the fact that there was no map telling you where everything was unless you looked online., where as 3 on it was really just a checkbox your doing, "Okay clear this outpost, climb this tower." and so on.

I use the approach of skipping most side-content unless I'm stuck, like I need more XP or better gear or whatever. Side-content is what it is for a reason, it's probably not plot-critical and the developers didn't think it was good enough to make mandatory. In a lot of games this cuts out 75% or more of the length, and if I'm really enjoying myself and not getting bored then there's nothing to stop me from doing more of it once the story's over.

Games biggest issue has always been structure. Structure has developed throughout the history of games. It felt like from 97-2010 we had it close to what it should be. Most games were paced well, lasted about 8-20 hours even in games like Red Dead 1 and had consistent quality all the way through. Then Skyrim came out and changed everything in my opinion. Not that Morrowind and Oblivion were not as big as Skyrim but Skyrim was the first big experience in mainstream that popularized the Open World structure. This open world structure is flawed. Deus Ex, Crysis 1 and Shadow of the Colossus all did the open big map with player freedom much better than any open world that has a structure based around a massive map. My take since playing Ac Odyssey for the first time has been that big maps are not a good thing. You want the map to be big enough for player choice but as small as possible to keep quality and pacing up. Deus Ex, Halo CE, Halo 3, MGS3, MGS Ground Zeroes, Ocarina of Time, Chaos Theory and Dark Souls 3 are some examples that I think nailed the open big map without making you deal with a massive map that ends up hurting the game. Most of those games funny enough have sequels that fell for the massive map plague. I think it’s telling when we have acclaimed devs switching to this massive format and failing. Halo Infinite, MGSV, Botw and Elden Ring are all worse than what came before and all of them has this same format taking away from what made the series so popular. Zelda lost dungeons, MGS lost resource management, Halo lost too much to even begin listing and Elden Ring had to lower boss quality across the board, all of these had drastically worse level design than before and all of them lack variety in locations. As someone who likes all these games the maps being this big is hurting the devs ability to create incredible masterpieces like Ocarina, MGS3 and Halo 3. I think toning the size down massively and instead making multiple bigger maps is the way to go.
@GoobaandJetpack
@GoobaandJetpack Ай бұрын
You make a valid point about the increase in map sizes leading to a decrease in quality. Once a studio focuses on making a map huge just for the sake of padding the runtime, they lose sight of making a fun and well paced overall experience. Give me a smaller map with a great story and fun mechanics over a needlessly massive game any day.
@jax6815
@jax6815 Ай бұрын
@ My first experience with open level design was in Halo CE. If you can remember Halo CEs second level where you a get a warthog after you crash land on the ring. That levels pacing is done so well with music coming in at specific parts and not once have I ever thought man I wish this map was the size of Hawaii with 150 squads of marines that need rescuing instead of 3. Halo CEs The Silent Cartographer is still the best example of what I’m talking about though in terms of size.
