Does Nancy Drew Mystery of the Seven Keys Gameplay Take Over 20 hours?

Great video! My theory is that there might be more slice of life content. For example, we saw the Coffee Shop mini game. I wonder if KEY will have mini-games and opportunities to collect stuff, which would drive the gameplay hour time up. They specified 20+ hours of gameplay, so that could mean everything the game has to offer as a whole including any other difficulties, etc etc.

I'd guess that maybe the older games could have listed such a high hour count because they assumed that it would take longer for the younger audience I figure they were probably intended for (which I can confirm, since as a kid I spent a long time on the same several games lol) As an adult, I'm of course a bit better at figuring out the puzzles and stuff by now, and so far some of the older ones I've been catching up on and playing for the first time are taking roughly 10+ hours each (and I'm not trying to go fast, I'm trying to take my time and enjoy them) I've been playing them in chronological order, and it does seem that the newer they get, the more hours they have. In any case, the latest game looks like it'll be pretty good!

I just finished Midnight in Salem and I think I had 17.5 hours; I went back and did some optional things after getting to the end.

Feels like a lot of firsts coming up with this game! Not sure how MID listed the lowest predicted run time when it's the longest off dialogue alone, but we'll find out what those 20GB are going toward.

I honestly was shocked seeing 20 + hours o-o like since when is Nancy Drew games ever close to 20 hours (not counting getting stuck on puzzles or something)? I can see maybe it taking a long time for little kids though. I remember playing Danger by Design when I was really little like 6 or something and it took me forever (I'm not sure how long exactly but it was a fair amount of time)! I replayed it as an adult and I think it took me maybe 5 hours or so? Maybe the higher hour count estimate is for younger audiences?

The younger audiences could for sure have something to do with it. It’s also been a while since I’ve played a game for the first time (and not just replayed), so I’m struggling to remember what my times were for first playthroughs 😅.

@@GoobaandJetpack Same here. I have no idea XD I know that I strugglleed though. I didn't finish a lot of games as a kid. I know I finished Danger by Design though.. not sure I finished any other Nancy Drew game though as a young kid XD

I think with the very early games, there was no KZbin (so no lets plays) and kids may not have not known about walkthroughs, so they had to do everything on their own. I have read about people who took months to finish a game when they were kids because they couldnt figure out a puzzle.

So true! I didn’t have access to walkthroughs or message boards for my play throughs as a kid and it definitely took me some hours to get through a few puzzles.

I get what you're saying but this is quite a negative video a week before launch. I, like many others, have been disappointed a lot with HER in the past, but I'm just excited to be getting a new game so soon and prefer to stay positive or at least neutral until I play it

Thanks for watching. I (Jetpack) disagree - I don't think this video is negative. Yes, I'm looking critically at the hours estimate, but it was not in a harmful way to the series.The purpose of the video is to add some perspective to the recent update and as someone who hasn't paid attention to it before it's interesting. We have been incredibly clear on our various socials that we are very excited for Mystery of the Seven Keys.
