I'm very curious about that spectrum meter you're using, you seem to always crop it onto the video, so I never got to see the whole of it, that kills me!

Roland SC-88 Pro was used in all of generation Pokemon games (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red and LeafGreen), and I find it extremely nostalgic. I have the Sound Canvas VA plugin and I use it quite often in my compositions. Such an amazing piece of gear.
@山下卓郎-b9tАй бұрын
I think an SD-90 is used, not an SC-88Pro. From GBA to DS, Pokémon can hear distinctive SD-90 sounds, such as snare drums. The SD-90 contains a new sound that is a complete change from the SC series.
@kotostrieb3 ай бұрын
I expected this to sound a lot like the SD-90, this is a welcome surprise. This sounds really nice. Maybe I'll pick me up one some day.

What graphic equalizer have you overlaid on the sb-55? It is impressive how good that sounds. I have sc-88vl I use on my vintage computer, it’s not sounded that good. Just shows what you can do if you know what you’re doing on of these 1990s machines
@山下卓郎-b9tАй бұрын
Not only the SC-88Pro, but also the voice data and DACs in the Roland SC series have output frequency limitations. High frequencies are output only up to about 17 KHz. This is degraded audio that even an old ear can understand. However, the data in this video is output up to around 20KHz, so it may have been processed by up-sampling. Or maybe they are using SC-VA only for the audio.

its actually a good idea to rely on mk1 when using nuked because mk2 has pitch shifting + instrument mapping issues on it and requires several restarts to get something to play right
@emperorgrieferus106Ай бұрын
From my experience, you only need 1 GM/GS reset to fix pitch shifting. Besides, mk1 doesn't play some MIDIs as intended.

@@thereisacow1337 I've meant MIDIs that don't require 64 voice polyphony. For example, I have MIDI rendition of Basics in Behaviour by TLT, and if I restart it while using mk1 mode, all of the instruments reset to Piano 1, and even GM/GS reset doesn't help.

Oh and btw... Some of these files were actually made for MU50/80/90, not MU100 and later. Yamaha was lazy not including MU Basic map select SysEx strings.
@山下卓郎-b9tАй бұрын
Using SysEX for map select is a bad idea. If the settings are changed by SMF playback, it will have an unintended effect on other SMF playback. Map select settings should be changed by “human hands”. This is not laziness. It is necessary for humans to correctly manage changes made to the Map Select settings. For MU100 and later models, the MU basic voices are located in Bank 127, so there is no need to use map select. When such data is played on a pre-MU90 model, the capital tone is correctly pronounced by proxy.
