Under the radar: Can’t believe this podcast has been posted for three years, listened to more than 500 times… and garnered not a single comment… Mandolin Orange - Andrew & Emily, sparse production, unpretentious - amazing. 👍👍👍👍👍

My brother Wrote exactly same song in 1069, as same we played in Battle of bands in Whangare , the organiser , asked him after for permission to use, we were a young group still at college an did not know copy rights, nothing has changed in way sung, my brother an I are gutted as we feel the rights of ours was stolen and given to someone else, I can give name of organiser, but won't, my brother wrote couple of songs but as I said we only sang Horse with No Name, our music teacher at college supported him , 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

It's one of those songs that I can listen to a million times and never get tired of. I first heard it in Stephen King's The Stand series and I really like it to this day. The extended versions are great. Due to the context in which I heard it and the plot of the book, I cannot help but relate it to a post-apocalyptic scenario, which also has similarities with what was experienced in 2020.

I love this song and honestly cannot believe how underrated it is. On the eve of its 20th birthday, I’d argue it is one of the top 150 country songs ever written. Just a phenomenal account of a special and rare moment at the end of a chapter in this young man’s life. You can feel the crossroads this person is at as he wraps up a temporary but meaningful thing that can’t last into the realities of school, September, etc. I connected with this as a mid 20-something and now, 20 years on, I appreciate it in a different, if not more powerful way. Scooter nailed this and it should be celebrated for the spectacle of lyrical storytelling it is.

why not shoot a couple more takes before uploading this? it’s painfully obvious that this chick is reading a teleprompter and if we’re being honest, she probably didn’t even know who paul simon was before shooting this

They spent so much time on fluff they left out the most powerful part of it. He was abused in a psych facility. "Fire" is electroshock treatment and "rain" are the ice baths. He was saying he's suffered before.

I remember seeing an old black and white, silent movie about a girl who is dying her loved ones around her bed, when suddenly the bay windows blow open and the Grim Reaper comes in through the window, the spirit of the girl takes his hand and leaves through the window, her body still laying in the bed. end of movie. I often wondered if the band hadn't watch that movie and wrote the song based on it. That film clip, sure would of been good for a video to that song.

Since music is subjective, a song will have different meanings to different people. For me, it's a story of going through a life changing event that has hurt your heart and soul down to the core of your existence. In the middle of this life tragedy, nothing makes sense. You ask "why?! Why am I in a desert, metaphorically dying, and I got here riding on a horse...that doesn't even have a name!?! As you hit rock bottom, you let the horse go because you don't want to pull it down with you into death...you've accepted your fate and want to give him a chance to live. You then realize this state of being you are in happens to people all the time. It's common - just a part of the life experience. Many people have made it through and you will to. You find strength in realizing the truth and you do walk out of the desert and begin to live again. Now, when you see someone going through Hell, you can help them by sharing your experience - of how you went through a deadly desert in life...riding on a horse with no name....and that you made it out to live again and so will they...
