@ who knows if that rooster was a cripple. It’s possible. I use the bell when I’m in those thick cattails. She moves fast so I can tell where she is with it.

I stumbled across you channel due to Violet's name. One of my hunting buddies from western MN (who is also a real-deal lab breeder) sold a black pup that was named Violet due to the color of her puppy collar to a guy from Ortonville a couple of years ago who hunts primarily pheasants. The dog is outstanding. He hunts the MN ND SD junction area and I thought "what are the odds?" Turns out the dog isn't the same Violet but you have a damn good dog in yours. I'm also to the point where the videos are about preserving the memories for a time when that is all that is left. Keep putting them out. I love watching a good lab do it's thing.

Actually, the only problem with the whistle is that there is no command or action for the dog to obey or do that l can tell.....just blowing a whistle. Dog obviously needs some obedience and handling training. But that is doable....

@ not sure which whistle times y’all are talking about. One blast is sit/stop. Two is change direction. Three is recall back to me. The rolling tweet is dead search. She’s young but she it’s getting it down. Anyway it’s the way we hunt and it works for us.

Wow that seems like forever ago. Actually running great. Had the left side bolt that held the springer together come loose while riding the other day but other than that it’s been great. Thanks for the comment
