As a classical musician and an ARMY I love this! BTS has inspired me so much and has been such an encouragement in my own music making💜. PS. I love how he combins in Tchaikovsky's piano concerto.

It's their lyric's and the fact they had so much hatred and calculate opposition that made us sit up, take note and take a deep dive into their lyric's. Also their music was able to reach far more people as it wasn't the 'normal kpop sound'. It's the fact they were pushed out of many of the avenue's afford to other group within the Kpop Industry so they had to find different ways to be seen and heard, they though outside the 'normal' Kpop box.

It's a point of detail but I get annoyed when Europe is bundled with the US as "the West". Europe has many people with many languages, a lot of whom are quite open to cultural works in a language they don't understand: after all, English is not, for most of us, a native language or even one we understand well. I believe Korean culture has been a breath of fresh air for many Europeans after years and years of US and British dominance over pop culture.

I would love to see Mr. Kim Youngdae write an article for Korean Media to HIGHLIGH and CHANGE THE KOREAN MEDIA narrative as he mentioned here: BTS did not FAIL in not winning the Grammy in the 3 times they have been nominated. WHY is the Korean Media SO NEGATIVE towards BTS's success? THAT IS THE QUESTION which needs to be addressed. BTS does not appear to be appreciated, celebrated in Korea to the level they have EARNED! The media and old school politicians seem hypocritical towards BTS. They dont seem to fit in the mold and play the games in the Korean culture which is very difficult. BTS is a PIONEER Group...

Big kudos to the translators with all of their efforts. And I really like how they structured their translations. I do amateur translations and often, I find some of the most difficult things to do are choosing whether or not to use direct translations and trying to convey the author's intentions behind their words, esp when direct translations doesn't work the same way in the translated language. So, I really appreciate your approach to this translation to make the English translation so easy and captivating to read, esp with how you convey the original work, and esp with all the translation restrictions placed on you.

A.R.M.Y are not your normal type of kpop fan group we tend to be older yes we do have young girls but we are mainly an older fandom and professional's, people who are music lovers, art, literature, psychology, social issues, political activists. etc etc.

BTS are 5 times Grammy nominated. BTS are more willing to spend time going live with the fans (A.R.M.Y)rather that mix with grammy committe members, going to lunches and dinner parties etc.

Psy didn't do that at all most people didn't even know he was Korean and he was a seen as a funny thing and seen as a one hit wonder in the rest of the world and forgotten very quickly which is said for Psy. That German radio host was disgusting, viral and shouldn't be given a platform to post his hate. Him calling it blasphemy was just stupid comment to make it's doesn't make any sense using that word as Blasphemy has only one meaning and it's in reference to God. He was saying ColdPlay was God which in and of itself is blasphemy. So he was not only racist he as an idiot. Seo Tae-ji pasted the torch to BTS not any other Kpop group when he asked them to remake his hit track. That's because they don't do bubblegum pop it's their lyrics and their heavy mixing of genre's that hit the right note. They hit with people who love different genre's of music, with people who like to delve deep into lyrics. All 7 members are Song Writers, Composer's and Producers each to a lesser or greater extend and 6 of them play instruments as well.

3 members of BTS were in the HipHop Scene RM and Suga as Rappers known as Runch Randa and Gloss. RM (Runch Randa) was well known for winning Battle Raps against much older Rappers of the time. Suga(Gloss) was not only Rapping he was a producer as well J Hope was a street Dancer.

BTS didn't have the same as 'other' kpop groups had. Their company was going bankrupt, they didn't have the same access as the Big 3, however what they did and do have is Creative freedom and had to use social media to get seen and heard something that then Kpop followed when they saw how well it worked for BTS.

I’m reading this book now , up to chapter 3 so far, the English translation is perfect, it’s a very raw account of BTS trials and hardships they faced early on , but seeing how these 7 incredible talented young men worked so hard they were destined for success , it’s given me another dimension of this amazing group! 🙂💜

I'm in no way a translator and my knowledge of Korean is nearly nonexistent (it's Japanese I'm studying...slowly), but I am a writer and occasional freelance editor, and I want to say I deeply appreciate the work that the authors, interviewers and translators put into 'Beyond The Story'. I know it is a challenge to take the Korean commentary and narrative and put them into relatively colloquial English while still retaining the genuine feel of the original. I think that not only did the authors present a very detailed and clear story of BTS's history, they did an amazing job of interviewing the guys and letting them amplify and emphasize the memories and experiences that were most important to them. That this all comes across so well is due to the outstanding efforts of the translators. A big ARMY 💜 Thank You 💜 to everyone involved in this excellent, informational yet moving book.
