Great, great stuff here. Hear the Tony Rice licks and also some Jimi Hendrix in there. Really good practice material. Where has this guy been that I missed this 3yr old video? Still around I hope. Want to hear more from him. 🙌🏻👍🏻

It took me years to figure out what you taught here. I even played in a Bluegrass Gospel group for several years and still didn't know how to get that Bluegrass strum sound. They don't teach this enough. They focus on strum patterns and forget to talk about the mechanics of the actual strum. Thanks for sharing.

Hi! I'm from Spain and I'm learning to play bluegrass. I went to a Slow Jam in Barcelona whit my resonator guitar tunned in Standard tunning, and played with a pick. But it turns out that I found some back comments like my guitar d'oesnt work for bluegrass... For me, it sounds great but maybie is not the desired tone for bluegrass? I still have a dreadnought but I feel bad about not using my resonator...

Just got a used pond prowler. How do you know if there is water inside your hull? Another solution might be to install screw in drain plugs like used n boats. They are always under water and and don’t let hardly any water in.
@bluegrassboy
@bluegrassboy Ай бұрын
Just pick one end up and if there's water inside, you'll hear it running to the other end.

Great stuff! Do you use the round side of the pick when strumming this way? I find this technique much easier to accomplish this way but I'm not sure if it makes a difference tone wise.

Thank you for preserving and sharing this treasure. I didn't realize he had passed on. I got introduced to J D Crowe and the New South through a Rounder Records sample CD with various artists that was included with Alison Krause and Union Station's CD So Long, So Wrong. I've been hooked ever since and it grew my love of bkuegrass even more.
