The beginning section reminds me of the end guitar solo of Pink Floyd “Pigs 3 Different Ones”…. Almost the same vibe and notes . Definitely a melting of “Dogs” and “Pigs 3 Different Ones”. Walsh’s guitar tone is awesome! Loved this song! I always preferred him with the James Gang or as a solo artist most, although I do like some Eagles music .

Joe and Pete were and still are great friends. Joe gifted his 1959 Gretsch 6120 to Pete which he played on Wh'o's Next and still says it is his favourite ever guitar. Pete repaid the gesture by sending Joe one of his synths which amazingly not long after receiving it Joe programmed it to play Pavanne on his wonderful So What album. Joe is so highly revered and respected by his peers from every generation, Slash being one example. He's a legend without a doubt.

I first saw this on the OGWT in the UK about 72/73 and went out and bought the Barnstorm album. One the best albums I've ever heard, no filler, have to listen to it all the way through. What a band and why on earth did Joe join the f*cking Eagles, did they get him drunk, kidnap his sister or something ?
@reincarnatedman3 ай бұрын
It was actually producer Bill Szymczyk's suggestion that Walsh join the Eagles in 1975 (as the band's guitarist and keyboard player) following the departure of their founding member Bernie Leadon. As suggestions go, it wasn't really a bad one: Szymczyk had produced the Eagles and also both Barnstorm and Joe Walsh, and he does have a great ear as a producer ( he is truly a 'professional listener'). I thought Walsh did a good job with the Eagles (although I know a lot of people disagree with me!) I've been a fan since their first album, and under Szymczyk's wing they grew musically and each album was stronger than the last in my opinion. For myself, the old stuff was the best; Hotel California was their last great album in my humble opinion.

Probably the best live version of the "classical" version of this great song. But look up the "laid back" version with Don Felder sometime for an impressive contrast.
