I just read the description, would you be open to sending me some of the photos that you've taken? The building has always interested me and I'd love to see them if you don't mind!

Thank you so much for uploading this, I've been trying to find more footage of Trump Plaza but this is one of those places that went away right before social media had it's big break. Do you have any other footage of the lobby and/or casino?

Caesars in Atlantic City has one of these as well, connecting the Parking Garage with the main hotel. And the former Sands also in Atlantic City had one of these that connected the hotel with the boardwalk and neighboring Claridge hotel.

I always love taking the Otis elevators at my hospital that have these enabled. Elevator A in Tower at Spartanburg Regional has the voice enabled on the right elevator but not the left one. Elevator E at the main hospital near the Pavilion has the voice enabled but it is pitched higher by roughly 30-40 cents.

Wow, “A black trim line handset,” cool! Some older service elevators in AC still have those in the Phone cabinets. I watch this video live, but figured I’d still comment for the algorithm. Sadly, I don’t know much about editing either, especially about editing pictures, because… Well, you know lol. I’m confused what you mean in the description when you say “ the car had a side emergency door.” Did you mean to say on one of the landings or did the elevator have a side 2-speed door or something?
@EscalatorsDotCo2 ай бұрын
A side emergency exit is an antiquated way to deal with elevator entrapments in high-rise buildings. It is not a power opening door; it's a part of the elevator cab wall that can be unlocked and swung open. The theory is that an elevator mechanic would be able to bring an adjacent working car level with the stuck car, open both side exit doors, and then use a bridge between the two cars to allow the occupants to exit. Side emergency exits have been prohibited in new elevators since the 2002 addendum to the A17.1 (Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators), though they had begun to fall out of favor long before that.
@Dwall442 ай бұрын
@ wow, that sounds very interesting! I’ve never actually heard of that before so thank you for the explanation. I’m guessing the cab is probably original from the 1980s if it had that feature then. Also, after re-watching your video of the passenger elevators here, I realize that they still had the original external lanterns and mechanical bell chimes from when they were originally Westinghouse. I guess it was a cheap Otis mod because all they did was replace the buttons and possibly the controller? You would know better than me, but if I had to guess I would say the motors were original to.

@@Dwall44 I seem to remember that when I peeked in the motor room in this tower, they were original machines but newer microprocessor controllers. I saw your comment on the live stream. When I was at Caesars most recently, the guest credential was required to access guest floors, and it would only allow you to access the elevator in your tower. You could still move around the lower floors without a credential, and I found that I could also just call the elevator, get it without placing a cab call, and then it would park on another floor. However when I was at Harrah's the time before that, the card readers were disabled entirely. Have a nice trip! Don't get in trouble ;)

@@EscalatorsDotCo peaked in the motor room!? That’s something I’ve never even thought about before. Yeah I’ll probably skip Caesars this time. As sad as that’s going to be, now that they’ve modernized everything there’s really nothing they’re worth seeing in my opinion. I was planning to check on Harris service elevators in the older towers to see if any of it is original. Golden Nugget is also undergoing modernization, so I considered stopping there as well. I’m actually supposed to get some of the stuff from there if all goes well. Got any video from that place? As for staying out of trouble… I’ll do my best :) thanks for the info

Cool, another elevator in this casino I did not know about. I tend to run into new elevators with each trip though, so not too surprising I guess. I wonder if this is the elevator that used to be by the steakhouse? I always wanted to check that one out but never was able to get to it before the steakhouse closed. Still impressed that you can read braille. On that topic I will say that the adhesive rail letters on the 4 x 4 placard seems very cheap on their end. Never understood what the S was supposed to mean either. They could’ve just written main like they do everywhere else. if the Braille character before the letter has two dots instead of one, it is likely a letter sign to distinguish the letter from its associated contraction. In braille when letters are used with no letters/punctuation around them, they can actually mean different words. I could go on about Braille but I’ll cut it off here. Did you record service elevators here or anywhere else on this trip?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this video from you before. The lack of a door close button I think was pretty common back then. All around this thing is cool but I definitely think that motor was replaced. Probably can’t confirm that it doesn’t sound like other motors from that time that I’ve heard.

The elevator videos have returned! First off, you’re a better person than I am for not looking inside the motor room haha. But assuming you’re still in the trade it’s likely nothing you haven’t seen before though. Also this could be one of the few instances in Atlantic City of a public elevator and the service elevator being directly next to each other. I never did understand that Braille labeling system of saying main for the main level instead of the number of the actual floor. Even as a Braille reader just always seemed odd to me. Lastly, I have a somewhat random question. I wanted to ask if you have a video of the service elevators in the Ocean Tower of Caesars? Those elevators have since been modernized, but the original elevators were Westinghouse and had some pretty rare fixtures and I think lanterns as well.
