Big money savings for an easy job. Owners: Replace that CCV crankcase vent filter yourselves, it's super easy! Self oil-change, self CCV change, self fuel-filters saves thousands of dollars and all are very easy to do with simple socket set and maybe a filter wrench. The CCV filter is critical!

Anyone who uses this tutorial a suggestion is to release the two transmission lines connected to the radiator under it. While the bracket is still on top so you have something to brace against. This applies if the hoses were really tight like mine were.

For the ones more like the 2016 there is a control scroller for the screen display, you scroll to the settings choice in that and click it, then go to maintenance system. It says do you want to intialize Yes No go to yes and click.

Over 400 bucks for an oil change and filters. It was my first time changing the filters and oil on my 2014 MEGA Cab. I suggest using a piece of tubing for the filters, less mess! Good information and very helpful. 👍

Thanks LifeTac! I was about to have my 2013 Hyundai Elantra towed to a shop when I came across your video. I thought it was the starter that was bad. You walked me through the process, and it came out great! There was serious rust on the center bolt that comes up from the center of the trans. It took some delicate prying to get it off. Otherwise, it was an easy replacement. The part was 65$ at a local parts store. Thanks again from this DIYer!

Great video but some tips for others as I just did this job myself- took about 6 hours. 2009 RX 350 with 172K miles, it started having real issues two weeks, light came on a few days ago,, but it was noisy for the last few thousand miles. Tough job for guys with larger hands as you'll have less maneuvering space but it's doable. 1. You'll probably break the bolts for the cover underneath, rusted to hell on mine. Air intake bolts might break off too, one of mine did. Exhaust manifold bolts might be rusted to hell, spray some pb blaster in case. 2. If you break the engine coolant filler neck accidently, Dorman sells the part, #902-408. Good to have in hand and return if not needed. If you do need it, break off the plastic retainer clip, use some wrench/locking plier to get a grip on it, and wiggle it off while using something to pry it off. Careful getting the broken plastic pieces inside the hose out- face it downwards and hope for the best. New one should go back right in with some suggestive tapping. 3. When it comes to the third bolt in the back, you don't actually have to remove initially to get the alternator off- you can just go straight in following the compressor line and the bolt for the bracket mounting to the engine block is right there, 12mm. You will have to take the exhaust manifold off first, don't need to touch the dipstick. You can wiggle the alternator out after taking that bolt out then actually remove the bolt connecting the bracket to the alternator out after. There is a line/wire connected to this bracket so you will have to take it off. 4. When it comes to wiggling the alternator out, I found it extremely helpful to pry the top, knock it back in with a wrench (anything's a hammer), then pry again and repeat and it will eventually loosen itself. You will have to pull it up from the bottom and start to maneuver it out that way. I believe my alternator pulley was facing downwards/towards the inside of the car for me to get it out. Replacing with another unit was extremely easy as it almost slipped right in. If you un did the bracket, finagle the bolt onto the alternator first but do not tighten all the way. When you get the alternator lined up for install, put in the top bolt, bottom left bolt, then bolt it into the engine. Tighten all the bolts down at this point 5. I found removing/replacing the belt is easiest with two people even if you do put a bolt in to hold it un tensioned. Getting it back on is extremely tough for your last pulley without having it un tensioned fully. Use two wrenches/breaker bar to get it loose. Then putting it back on have someone help or you may never finagle enough clearance to get the belt back on right. 6. Under air intake tube was annoying since you can't see that far back, until you realize it has to pivot off the clear res underneath. Use that as a pivot point and eventually you should get it to fit back into the air intake box easily. 7. I had new pulleys on hand but when it started getting late and I spun all the pulleys and didn't feel any resistance/grinding or hear any noise, I decided to just leave them there. Yes I should have gotten them replaced since I was there but it's a simple enough job that I can do it another time when I really have some issues. They're going back to amazon in the meantime.

Do you have experience with the 4.6 2 valve V8 in the 2008 Ford Econoline E250? It seems to only have a cylinder temperature head sensor and not a coolant temperature sensor on that header pipe like yours. My temperature guage is not working so I am wondering if that is why. I was given conflicting responses, some say there should not be a coolant temperature sensor and others say there should. Please help. Thank you.
@LifeTac
@LifeTac 4 ай бұрын
Seems like Ford removed the coolant temp sensor and just replaced with a CHTS head sensor. If you have any codes relating to temp sensors that might be a likely culprit.

Straight to the point drama free on both a 2012 and a 2015 Prius V. If you can’t figure this out buy this explanation, you need to go to the Toyota dealer so that someone who has a clue can do this as you have no business tampering with a vehicle you clearly know nothing about.

Good video! I just did my 2005 ES330. I will add that in front of the radiator is the A/C condenser coil. BEFORE you put the new radiator in, spray the coil with Simple Green, let it set for 5 minutes, rinse with a hose from the engine side and blast it with air from the engine side. DO NOT SCRUB IT WITH A BRUSH OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE FINS! Just spray, rinse, blow. It will improve air flow to both coils, give you a cooler A/C and better fuel efficiency because the A/C will work less hard to expell heat.

Not all RX350s from this era have that third bolt and bracket assembly - my 2008 does not - so even if it is present it likely is possible to leave it off. I used the method shown on another video to zip tie a serpentine belt tool to the motor mount to keep tension off the tensioner. The factory manual specifies removal of the radiator fan assembly. I would hate to attempt removal of the alternator with the fans in place.

How long did it take you to change? What brand of alternator did you buy? Where did you get it from? I have a 2008 RX 350 that needs to have an alternator replaced.
@thardyryll
@thardyryll 29 күн бұрын
@@bryanglass5818 It took me all of six hours to replace my alternator. A second job would have gone a lot faster, as is always the case. Some important notes: 1. I have to correct my earlier post. That third fastener was present on mine and is crucial. A light and small mirror are helpful for seeing it. 2. Thousands of miles of grit made the alternator electrical connector insanely difficult to separate. Be prepared to flood the thing with something like WD-40 and blast it clean with compressed air if yours is stubborn. 3. I used a remanufactured Denso alternator. I would only trust this brand, as Denso is the OEM supplier to Toyota. My replacement looked exactly like the original factory part. You could compare its price to a new dealer part. There will be quite a difference. I bought mine locally. This is advisable so you can compare your old part to the new one. They will want the old one for a core. 4. Protect the radiator with a sheet of cardboard. It’s cheap insurance. 5. Buy that black plastic radiator neck piece ahead of time. Even if the original doesn’t break - and they almost always do - it will have become brittle and replacement is a good idea.
