Why would you not recommend the built in model, given it has basically the same features?
@justgrillin12 күн бұрын
@@paulsharpe7185 at the price point of the built-in model, I think there are better options. Please watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZ2VqpWQiq6Ye9E That’s one grill I would recommend as a built-in over the Summit. When you’re building in a grill, the Summit locks you in to have to get another one since it’s the only built-in grill styled like that versus a grill head. Weber doesn’t have anything else to offer like doors and drawers. And for the price point, you can get a grill with stronger burners and built of better stainless steel throughout the entire grill. Are you local to us? If so, come see us in our showroom and we can show you around a few different grills, including the Summit, and you’ll get a better understanding. - Sam

Hi Sam, I really appreciate your reply, along with the great review. Unfortunately I’m in Australia and the options here are much more limited. I agree it’s annoying that the Weber is not just a grill head like other built ins, but I haven’t found another brand available in Australia that l would trust like Weber. You are really spoilt for choice in the US!
@paulsharpe718512 күн бұрын
Actually, of the brands that you sell, the only one available in Australia other than Weber is DCS. Would yoi choose a DCS built in over a Weber?
@justgrillin12 күн бұрын
@ I would go with Weber. The DCS is stronger and better but I think their ignition system is unreliable. Just my experience with the grills. If parts aren’t easy to come by in your area, you’ll be disappointed. Their customer service is sub-par. Maybe it’s different in AUS but here in the states it’s not on par with luxury grills.

Have you heard about a lot of flare ups? I am really liking this grill but reading about people hating it due to so many flare ups.
@justgrillinАй бұрын
This is a touchy subject. Flare ups is not a universal, cut and paste topic in my opinion. People cook with so many different oils, seasonings and sauces. People also use different grades of meat with different fat contents which can greatly contribute to flare up experience. This is my take on it with this particular grill, which I personally own. Sorry this answer is going to be long winded. The first step to flare up protection is a clean grill. With briquette trays, you need to periodically flip them over to allow things to burn off. People, generally, do not do this simple maintenance. Over time, you're going to have things build up that cause flare ups. Also, briquettes hold heat better so if you're not accustomed to cooking in a grill that has them, people tend to run the grill hotter than it needs to be which also contributes to flare ups. Cooking with different meats and fat content makes a difference. Burger patties that are 70% lean and 30% fat create way more mess and flare ups than if you cook with 85-15. Most people don't mention what they use or if they throw a lot of oil on the food when they talk about flare ups. In my experience with this grill, it's generally very little. If I do get them, it's usually with burgers and it's because I am running the grill hotter than I intended too. If you are coming from a less powerful grill to a grill like an Artisan, it's a small learning curve because it doesn't take as much on the heat dial to reach certain temperatures as it may take full blast on another to achieve the same temp. No grill is flare up proof. Don't let anyone tell you that. But if you keep your grill relatively clean, are aware if the food your cooking is fatty and has oils/sauces that can cause more flare ups and have your heat controlled, you really aren't going to deal with flare ups much at all other than occasionally with a burger. - Sam

Why can't you use briquettes?
@justgrillin2 ай бұрын
@tazionuvolari3593 you will have more control with the heat when you use lump charcoal. Briquettes have a lot of ash and that can clog up your airflow making it hard to keep your temperature. A good quality lump will also burn longer without the need to refuel as fast as you would with briquettes. Briquettes are also a man-made fuel so they use other ingredients. Lump charcoal should just be one ingredient which makes the smoke natural and superior in flavor too. - Sam
@tazionuvolari3593Ай бұрын
@@justgrillin But, it's a suggestion, not an absolute requirement?
@justgrillinАй бұрын
@@tazionuvolari3593 correct. But if you polled kamado owners, 99% are going to tell you to use lump charcoal. These grills weren’t designed with briquettes as fuel in mind. Briquettes do better in grills like Weber kettles. If you’re using Kingsford briquettes I would 100% recommend you give a good lump charcoal a try. - Sam

Wasn't sure why they did not put a smoke stack on it
@justgrillin2 ай бұрын
Some of the grills that have them it's more for show than serving an actual purpose. Pellet grills like Yoder Smokers use a stack because the grill is setup like an offset grill. Certain sizes allow you to diffuse heat different ways for more customizable cooking preferences with Yoder's grills. Their stack serves a purpose in that case because all the smoke is forced across the cook chamber. They use a gasket around the door to seal off the chamber. The Searwood does a great job despite not being setup like a true offset grill. - Sam
