The name Temne means in the Temne language "to fight" Teem or teemne......No wonder the Koya and Konkay, Gbambali Temnes are ferocious fighters against the Manes or today Mende. That is why vast parts of Moyamba are dominated by Temne and dialects of Temne like Shaybra or today Sherbro or Bullom..... a language which is a tumble-up version of the Temne language and speakers scattered along the coastal fishing villages on the Atlantic Ocean of Sierra Leone north and south of the Freetown peninsula.....

We need a more comprehensive and organized way to learn Temne, and a bidirectional English to Temne dictionary. There’s virtually no way to learn this language online.

Not to say I don’t appreciate this video, but just seeing a few phrases here and there will not help in learning the language at all.

Fully agree, have been trying for a while and it's next to impossible to learn the grammar and structure. Google "Peace Corps Temne Language Manual", that's the closest thing to it but even that has inconsistencies and isn't presented in the most comprehensive way

The dressup, dancing, very traditional. I love it but the cutting is barbaric, evil, damaging women and girls. It has to stop and BECOME A THING OF THE PAST. Our grand children and great grand children will be saddened to read their history books and find out that this babaric act was seen as part of our culture.

Is this Rap Music? Maybe this is the origin of Rap Music before it was rediscovered again in America by the descendants of those African slaves brought to America.

These people have no Corvette or Rolls-Royce but they are extremely content and happy.....This is their social event. Really proud of my people.....all over central, north and western Sierra Leone at least 35% of the population....May they continue to thrive 🙏🏼
