What a nice start 👏 👌 I gotta say, I do like that tornado, even though it's only 8' wide. 😊 Mystere 6.0 XL for me, thanks. It would be awesome if I was rich enough to get it to Vasaliki Bay for a couple weeks or more. Nice transition to the downwind 👍

Interested in what you were/ weren't doing with the centreboards. In my Cat sailing days, downwind/ downwind reach we pulled the centreboard up to reduce the wetted area.
@JoyriderTV54 минут бұрын
Nobody in the Fleet is touching their centreboards these days I think probably due to increased turbulence around the slot perhaps

@JoyriderTV52 минут бұрын
Thank Mark. I that we really made some steps forwards in this event, if we could go to another event immediately held in minimum 12 kn of wind I think we’d be looking good for a top five finish.

fabulous, facinating, fun. Real sailing. "Back a bit - forward a bit" imavellous. You both have real close feel for the boat and situation awarness. Real sailors. I see why you are at the "Worlds". Regarding the weight issue I think you should think about shaving.😁😁
@JoyriderTV46 минут бұрын
Yes, still a few kilos heavier than many of the teams but perhaps that extra weight helped on the upwind legs when we eventually got some wind

I am the champion of Ukraine in the tornado catamaran class in 2001. I would like to find a suitable extreme video to show my mother what I have been doing for 15 years of my life. I trained in force 7 winds in the city of Sevastopol, this is the open sea, but in your video I see a wind force of two points, maximum three, what extreme and what strong wind are you talking about here now?
@JoyriderTV44 минут бұрын
Greetings from Greece, the wind in this video was around 25 kn sailing in this location. The wind always seems lighter because the sea always stays flat for more wind check out the recent video of our Highwind shakedown before we went to the world championships. Thanks.

Great watching you guys. Very useful to see how you recover by sheeting out the kite if flying the hull too high. I also see you play the main when on the downwind, is the principle still the same as upwind ie sheet in on a gust and out on a lull? Or does it differ downwind? Many thanks.
@JoyriderTV43 минут бұрын
Small amounts of main sheet being played on the downwind generally sheeting out in the LOLs and sheeting in in the gusts trying to keep the tails flying

Yeah, that was the one part that seemed to be pretty good throughout the Regatta. I did feel that if the main sheet wasn’t overheated, we were losing a bit of power.

Very good Joe, This season you are on it much better! Great crew work too! Fast and attentive and efficient. Doing the wild thing in light airs is a benefit, tricky at times especially with the chop but can make a good difference and I would say worth a try up to about 7-8kts, your mast rotation can be tweeked a bit more frequently once you have gained some apparent wind speed keep a sharp eye on it. Over all great improvement. Smooth out your tacks if you can,... smooth and steady arcs to not loose boat speed. Your personal weight can move a little more frequently as well, on some tacks you had good position on Port a few times I notice you were just comfortable behind/beside the stay, a few more inches forward and you will find magic...The T is a FINELY balanced boat so mini adjustments make a BIG difference over the course. Good luck and give it the beans!

When I'm in the back I'm always very aware of just how overweight my crew is making the boat. Then when I'm in the front with a skinny bikini babe as crew I realize just how skilled I truly must be lol

These are cool but I can't tell if they are in first or last place. Not sure if that can be helped, but maybe some (or more..) commentary on the traffic and little goals along the way would help. I don't want you to be "that boat" with the guy narrating the whole thing though, while the other sailors are thinking "just shut up" lol
@JoyriderTVКүн бұрын
I know what you;'re saying - it would be very cool to have an aerial view of the whole fleet to see the positions. Maybe next time.

I live in Clearwater and the wind tends to be on the lighter side in the summer and you get thunderstorms nearly every afternoon. It would be best to do it in fall or spring if it was here.

Start #2! 😊 aaaand NO 😢 Seems to me that there should be races in Vasaliki Bay. Reliable winds making for some awesome action 😃 And spare parts for the home team 😉 Your channel needs a drone pilot. Joe Bennett on strava? Joyrider TV on strava? 🤔 At every turn, I'm screaming GO! Come on, boat, get on with it! Ah! ...not being critical, mind, just on the edge of my seat.
