A great video, thanks! We got stalled quite a few time because of not having enough speed (and waves, too...), now cannot wait to try those techniques.

Cool video! Thoughts for better, faster tacks, inspired on the technique we use on the UFO foiler which is awfully tricky to tack. - stay on the low side on the tack exit, and cross only after you have speed on the new side. Pop the battens from the wrong side, trim etc - (you do this on the stalled tack at around 4.40). Weight on the 'low' side hull helps the turn. Weight on the new side hampers the turn. - pop the battens a bit later - at speed sit mid-tramp (fore-aft), during the turn sit at the stern end of tramp, once the turn is complete, move to mid-tramp again (still on old side) - and as the boat gets speed, _then_ cross to new side

I’m very sorry to hear that you are not so well. I wish you a full recovery. Yes, the day out to the cave was nothing short of an epic adventure and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Awesome. Love to see a heavy wind tack technique with a Hobie 16, main only

H16 w/o jib. why do that? You need the jib. in a good swell with wind the H14 needs to be "backtacked" from my experience. Just getting head to wind in a 14 with big wind and waves is tricky, then you have to back up to swing the bows around...I have seen ppl jibe around on the beat instead of tacking whilst racing in the 70's in the ocean.

Now you tell us, that 14 was sometimes difficult to tack 40 years ago.
