Been having success with the reel method fluoro underspin. Caught my PB smallie this summer on one. The blade is connected by a piece of fluoro. Strike king actually just bought the right to produce a similar underspin. They announced it at icast this year.

I assume you're tying a palomar to the hook and then feeding the line back through the eye down to the sinker? I've had my line break at the palomar knot quite often on fish. I'll get them in the boat boat the fight will break the line and I'll lose my sinker. Am i tying a bad knot or is that just common?
@joebauerfishing
@joebauerfishing 6 ай бұрын
That is pretty common. I tie the palomar on my hook and then just what you said put the tag end back through the eye to make the hook stick out. After I catch a couple fish I have to retie. That’s where the long leader to start with comes in handy so you don’t have to tie a new FG out on the water. I can actually look at my leader and tell when it’s about to break. These smallmouth are eating a lot of bait fish in the summer and their “teeth” are more prolific than when they are eating crawfish. I think when your hook is pegged in the roof of their mouth, which is where it’s supposed to be, the line rubs back and forth across their sandpaper and weakens the leader line. It will start to look milky just above your knot, instead of clear, that’s when I know it’s about to break.

Stop giving people tips and advice. We need to protect the lake. Don’t come to Michigan and do not fish our lake. @@joem8875 The Michigan DNR does absolutely nothing for conservation in this state. Organizations have to register their tournaments with the state, however there is no follow up with any biologists or CO’s making sure that the resource is being protected. They spend all of this money tagging fish that provides little to no helpful data and none patrolling these tournaments. I absolutely agree that we need to do better. There should never be a tournament allowed to launch from Crocker or Selfridge unless they have a live release boat taking the fish back into the blue water instead of the cest pool by the ramps. The number of tournaments that are allowed is disgusting. I would love to see a lottery system with a cap on the amount of permits issued for tournaments. Texas Parks and Wildlife is leading the way for conservation, Michigan needs to take notes from them.

The Bassmaster Tournament breakdown in a nutshell 🥥 A bunch of guys in $75,000 boats zipped around the lake doing the same exact things all of us locals do to catch em in front of TV cameras, kept them in their "live"(dead)wells all day overstressing said fish out, stood in front of more TV cameras for a "weigh in" while pretending to be "professionals" and then released all of these fish into warm, low oxygen leveled water where the vast majority of said "released fish then died....never to grow and/or be caught again. And thats pretty much it. Livescope has turned "professional" bass "fishing" into a completely different animal, better described as COMMERCIAL CATCHING. * A shout out to all of my LSC Muskie Anglers, a.k.a REAL fishermen. 👋🏻 🎣
