I agree morning is better, I know there in the area but seems a reaction bite is better as the day goes on. Repeat dropping the drop shot every few minutes under the boat.

Man would love to pick your brain one day. I’m absolutely fascinated and obsessed with the cat and mouse game of the St.Clair smallmouth and the Detroit river as well. I’ve yet to really figure them out in the river aside from thr mouth at both ends.

The River is definitely not my strong suit. I just spend way more time out in the lake.

Great info Joe, really appreciate the videos. What size hook do you use for the smeltinator jig with a baby z?
@joebauerfishing5 ай бұрын
I prefer the 1/4oz and 3/8oz with the 3/0 hook and the 1/8oz with the 2/0 hook.

Appreciate the vids Joe. You cracking any on topwater in the mornings or sticking to the more finesse presentations? I've been throwing that green pumpkin snack craw ned rigged too and it gets chewed, plus they last quite a few fish.

@@declan5184 I have gotten a few to eat a walking bait early on calm mornings but can’t get anything consistent.

Any tips for largies or shallow water fishing? I do not enjoy battling waves out in the ocean.
@joebauerfishing5 ай бұрын
I don’t fish for them very often but when I do I have a frog and a jig tied on. I mainly focus on sea walls and floating vegetation that has an open area underneath. Residential canals and areas that chopped up weeds have floated and gathered are areas that I target.

Honestly been fishing all over anywhere from 3-22ft. Key is being around the perch! 16-18 has been pretty good.

What weight Smeltinator head do you use the most?
@joebauerfishing5 ай бұрын
I use the 1/4oz the most and the 3/8oz the second most.
