I’ve made use of our treadmill during the cold snap. Not ran outside for a week. You’re still getting consistency though. I’m sure you won’t lose any progress for the marathon goals✊

Thanks, the problem with the canal's here in East Cheshire they don't have decent footpaths, just mud. I've cycled a lot around Stoke and they have great paths along the canals. Not sure about running today, went for a sports massage earlier and nearly ended up on my arse in the car park because of the ice.

You doing any bike sessions for recovery? You seem to be having too many consecutive run days? Your body may not assimilating the run training load and you end up run down. Just a thought as don’t like to think that your suffering continues 😳

5 runs per week, Mon, Tues & Weds then Fri & Sat. 3 x strength and conditioning. I should include some easy turbo cycling just to mix it up.

Don't think I will ever be pain free but I'm the best I've felt for a long time. How is the calf? Yes looking forward to it, I went in 1985 on my own, had to sleep rough a few nights lol no internet in those days!!

Had an appointment with my pain management consultant yesterday, I said to him the pain and discomfort I'm in has meant I'm not enjoying any activity. I'd love to do a run or bike pain free!!

Nice pain cave set up. The juggling of strength work and endurance training can be tricky. I tend to do no more than 2 strength sessions a week. One session compound exercise focussed and the other more plyometrics KB single leg exercises. The suffer with DOMS all week😅.

Hey Steve! I was your campervan neighbour in Hilpoltstein - Sean congratulations again on completing your race! I can feel your frustration knowing you would have raced a helluva lot quicker if it wasn't for those issues outside your control. Still smashing it Steve. When I trained for Ironman I didn’t do bike-run sessions further than 75 miles bike 8 miles run. Always felt that practice suffering had no benefit. But we are all different. Your mental focus is fantastic!

@@stevenixon3634 I did Almere full distance in 2011. Now Challenge Almere. And Outlaw full in 2014. Almere was a sufferfest managing an injury which meant a long walk on the marathon. But the Outlaw went much better

@@stevenixon3634 definitely yes prefer shorter now! Less time to commit and the sessions are more interesting too for me. I think the years of endurance from longer stuff has helped massively though. I’m sure that would be the same for you if you focused on shorter stuff.

Agree with you ref dual carriageway riding. It is safer. Shame you got heckled. I use the A34 loops between monkey forest roundabout and Stone roundabout. Road surface ok now
