My neighbor and friend is a plumber so I got him coming tomorrow. My oil burner goes fast then back to normal speed goes fast back to normal speed so I told him I think it’s dirty nozzle. He says you’re probably right. We’ll change it tomorrow but who knows it could be so many things
@BambergersInc.
@BambergersInc. 3 күн бұрын
Definitely, hopefully it's not too difficult. After changing the nozzle, I would definitely check the pump pressure. If that's fluctuating up and down, you might need a new motor. While you're at it. Double check the coupler and make sure that it doesn't need to be replaced either. Let us know what you guys find.

@ I appreciate your expert advice. God bless you, my friend. He’s coming tomorrow so I’ll let you know what it is. I just listened to it before sometimes it sounds like it’s going to conk out and runs really fast so it doesn’t conk out but then it figures it all out and start running normal again. It’s been a cold winter. I don’t want it to break at 2 AM.

I wish my baseboard heaters had individual bleeder valves, I cannot get heat through all of mine, I called and got a “certified” person to come out and service it but within 10 minutes I knew he had no clue how to properly work on gas boilers, he ended up flipping the fast fill handle and the boiler started jumping 3-4 inches off the ground from it being hot?? I’ve pretty much been freezing this cold spell

Is it a stream boiler or water filled?
@BambergersInc.
@BambergersInc. 4 күн бұрын
There should be a way to bleed the system at the boiler by shutting a valve on the return. just before the valve should be a spigot that you can open that will force the air out of the loop.

@ I have a small bleeder outside close to the fast fill valve, my unit ain’t very old, when I bought the house the previous owner had it closed off, it wasn’t heating any room, called a service tech out that I knew more about boilers than he did and at that time I knew nothing, it was like watching a “mechanic” try to explain how to set timing WHOs never worked on anything!! Now the rear bedrooms heat really good, and 1 bathroom, every other rm is cold to the touch.

The boiler should maintain pressure all the time, @ 15 psi. So bleed it anytime. When you bleed it if there doesn't seem to be pressure then there is a problem.

Motor upside down. No one thought to put some isolation valves before abd after the pump to avoid this mess on the next go round? Y'all did remember to video this abomination though
@BambergersInc.
@BambergersInc. 13 күн бұрын
The motor was not upside down. The circulators only move the water from the boilers up to the main upper loop where there are more circulators. You can see in the video that the outlet side of the boiler has a flow control... If the circulator was going the other direction, it would be pulling against a closed check valve. As for the isolation valves you are correct. It would make it better and easier. But we didn't have them with us and sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do. 👍

I have a question for you guys please, i have a old New Yorker furnace " NY 151 " ( over 30 years old) that it is type that heats the house and also provide hot water for house use( like shower, sinks) , it is duel type furnace( i call it), now i see split supply water comes in one goes through PRV to the boiler one through side to the side of the boiler , i wonder when i bleed the system from Air, do i have to shut down one this valve so no more water goes to the heating loop . Is this system that you just cleaned in this video, does it heat and provide hot water for house use or just heats ?
@BambergersInc.
@BambergersInc. Ай бұрын
If I understand your question correctly, the short answer is no. What you are calling the PRV is probably the auto fill (aka fastfill, like a Taco fastfill), which reduces the pressure from street psi down to about 15psi. When you bleed air out of the system you are also dropping the pressure, so you want the fastfill to pressurize the system back up to 15psi with water, instead of air. If your fastfill keeps filling and your pressure relief valve goes off, then you need a new fastfill. So no need to close any valves unless the prv valve is not working properly.

Just finished the first one. I found that that little star clip in the origional small blocks is pretty hard to get out. Glad your kit has a snap ring. One question, it seems hard to get the junk out of them even soaking them in Berryman carb cleaner. What do you use to clean them up?
@Autogurugenious
@Autogurugenious 29 күн бұрын
We have gun cleaning kits, Stoddard solvent, and crock pots. Depending on how tough it is, we will cook them in a water based solvent like Castrol greaseoff. But we try all we can. I use brushes from HF or Amazon too. We use pipe cleaners for the tiny holes. Here is the trick, do not scratch the insides! Scratches or gouges are a place for the oil to get stuck and bake. I had on Lanair come in a bit roughed up so when I had it all cleaned up and ready to assemble, I took a large bore brush made of cloth, put it in a drill, and used rubbing compound to polish the bore. It came out really nice. One other thing, our Carb Cleaner co just stopped making it, so we will switch to Berrymans and I hope it is as good or better, but I also soak them in a ultra sonic cleaner with heat. This makes a big dif. We used to heat the carb cleaner and it helps a lot, but to then ad ultra sonic waves helps even more. I will have the boys put up a link to where to get a cleaner, but I dont know how to do that. Ill get with ya though. Take care and I hope this helps.

I have a Williamson oil burner furnace (not a boiler) with a Beckett burner installed in 1996 and maintained every year (we built this house and still live here). This thing is super clean and it has new electrodes properly adjusted with the Beckett tool, a new electronic igniter/transformer and the flame sensor has been tested and working but I will replace that also since it’s so easy. The issue I have right now after it was serviced and the items I mentioned replaced, a few weeks later it tripped and I noticed that because it was cold this morning. I pressed the button on the controller to reset it and I saw a flame for just one or two seconds and then the flame went out, so I powered it off. Knowing all the items I mentioned were replaced/new, it seemed like a fuel issue to me so I cracked open the bleeder screw at the pump and fired it up and sure enough the fuel was foamy so I bled it until it was just fuel and no longer foamy. After that I started it up and it’s been fine all day. I confirmed all the connections are tight. Not a drop of fuel anywhere (and it's always been like that...really clean). I’m a little suspicious about whether or not they have been changing that oil filter in the canister because it looks suspiciously clean around that area where the filter is installed and maybe a few cobwebs on it also. Maybe they’ve been a little leery about doing it because it’s harder to bleed because the tank is in the basement but the copper line runs up along the ceiling of the basement and then back down to the furnace and at the bottom of the furnace is where they put the canister filter and then of course the copper line connects to the pump on the burner. I’m just looking for some possible explanations for while all of a sudden the the fuel was foamy, could it truly be that oil filter in that canister getting clogged?
@BambergersInc.
@BambergersInc. Ай бұрын
We have had this issue before with other units. Here's a couple of things. 1. if it is a long run from tank to burner, it may be more difficult to bleed completely. 2. Yes, you are correct. If the filter is clogged or the pump screen (inside the pump cover), then it would stop working after a minute. 3. If they weren't cleaned, you could get a dirty nozzle, which would cause flame issues. 4. You may want to consider installing a de-airator or a return line to help remove the air. 5. Sometimes, air collects over time in the line where it runs along the ceiling (the highest point). If the problem continues check the filter and screen first. Thanks for reaching out. God bless!

@@BambergersInc. Thanks for the advice. Regarding #4 - while searching more yesterday I came across that 'Tiger Loop' device which does what you mentioned...takes the air out of the line. Looks pretty cool! We've never had any trouble out of this setup since 1996 when we first installed it, so I suspect (and hope), maybe I just didn't get all the air out the first time. I bled it again and got a lot more 'foam' out before it turned into just fuel. I'd still like to get one of those devices installed sometime. The feed comes out of the bottom of the tank (not ideal from what I learned, as far as potential to pick up sludge/dirt, and then it goes up to the basement ceiling across to the furnace, then down to the bottom of the furnace which is where they put the filter (don't know why - inexperienced installer?) and then to the pump. Total length is maybe 60 to 70 feet or so. At this point I'm confident it's an air in the line issue, based on all the foam I bled out yesterday - I bled out about 1/4 gallon before it got really clear. So I'll plan to eventually get one of those Tiger Loop devices installed if it happens again. 'Tigerloop TN Oil Deaerator' P.S. My furnace is SUPER clean and serviced every year. No black mess anywhere. It burns really clean and even looks really clean overall. I was shocked when I started watching KZbin videos about other people's oil furnaces. LOL Wow.
@ThePhotographyHobbyist
@ThePhotographyHobbyist Ай бұрын
@@BambergersInc. Sorry, one last thing. A few days ago I bled the pump while it was running and collected a little over 1/4 gallon before I saw just clear fluid, not foamy fuel. Today I decided to bleed it again because I'll be away from home for 4 days and wanted to be sure it was all set and wouldn't shut down if more air was in the fuel line. This time I collected a little over 1/2 gallon before I stopped seeing any foam. Does that sound about right/correct for about 65 to 70 feet of copper tubing/fuel line? (regarding how much you'd bleed before seeing just fluid with no foam/air bubbles) I do want to look into getting a 'Tigerloop' deaerator installed later on, but for now and since it worked fine for 28 years, I figured I can wait until next season when I'm prepared for it. For now, I'm not sure why all of a sudden I'm getting air in the line unless somehow the techs really haven't been changing the filter and it's dirty to the point where it's really trying to suck so hard it's somehow pulling in air...if that's possible. The other thing I'd like to do, once I get a Tigerloop is to switch the fuel line from the bottom of the tank to having the fuel line inserted from the top and leaving it about 5 inches from the bottom of the tank so there's never any chance it can suck in dirt/sludge from the bottom.

@@ThePhotographyHobbyist pull the pump and look in the tunnel for wetness / oil. If the seal in the pump is stating to leak, this will happen. The system is losing its vacuum/prime so to speak. Even if it isn’t leaking oil yet, it may begin as leaking air. This would allow the oil to flow back to the tank if you are losing your seal when the pump isn’t running.

@BambergersInc. 3 ай бұрын
This one was only a few years old, so it might have been under warranty. (When you get a new furnace, register the product so you get the full warranty). Normally, though, I would say replace the whole thing. Because its alot of work to pull out the furnace and swap the heat exchanger, just to reinstall a partially used furnace. Also, you don't know what else could be damaged. Another thing, figure out what cracked it...old age, fan motor when bad, gas pressure too high, fan switch went bad, DIRTY AIR FILTERS. You don't want it to happen again. Thanks for the question!
