Hi, I am thankful to find you today... how can I export two artboards that will be printed separately, however will be placed on the wall together to look as one.

This is great thanks for this. Is there a way to keep the CMYK color space? it looks like using "export for screens" changes it to RGB.
@PrintDesignAcademy27 күн бұрын
Hey heyyyy! hmmmm that's interesting. As long as your file color mode starts in CMYK it keeps it in CMYK every time I've done tests and checked it. I've tested where I check the PDF using color separations in Acrobat and all the color levels show 100% CMYK and stay accurate for me.

@PrintDesignAcademy27 күн бұрын
Hey, so sorry for the late reply here! So we don't talk about fiery in the course because designers don't really need to use it since the print shops take care of that process when they print your piece. - Now learning about the steps to correctly design brochures and business cards for print, that's we teach for sure! www.printdesignacademy.com/trial <----There's a 7day trial too that you can take a look at! 😉

Hi! I am working on a banner in Illustrator, but I have realised all my content is on the cutter layer and not the ARTWORK layer. Can I just move them to the ARTWORK layer?
@PrintDesignAcademy27 күн бұрын
Hey heyyy. Sorry getting to this a touch later, but yes! you can totally just move artwork in between layers. - First have a new layer that's going to be your CUT layer. - Then, you need to have the cut path/art selected (doesn't matter which layer it's on right now). - Next, you'll see in the layer panel on the very right there will be a little color square (the color matches the color of the current layer). That represents the selected artwork. - You can now literally click and drag that mini square to your new CUT layer and it'll move that selected artwork to the right spot! BAM Hope that makes sense!! hard to explain over comments. Also! We have a private community for our Academy and if you're interested. It's where all our members get direct access to my help with file questions and other print things. www.printdesignacademy.com/trial <--Free trial too! ☺️

Thats great info video though but when we are exporting or saving for print format aren't we supposed to curve all the fonts and share it with the printers? Coz everyone will not be having a fonts what we use for designing our collaterals and if we do not any of them copy the texts what we have put on that.

Yes! Absolutely need to make sure fonts are outlined or atleast supplied in a packaged file. Did you see this video in the series? I go into all the type do's + don'ts in this one >>>> kzbin.info/www/bejne/havRhoJmdpxpZqM

The only thing I did not see is how to do crop and bleed in illustrator.
@PrintDesignAcademy3 ай бұрын
Are you prepping all the pages of the coloring book yourself or just sending the illustrations to another company for them to add to a design?
@Danafinland3 ай бұрын
Illustrator, rich black, so when you say "smaller" don't use on smaller type, .... my pen and ink drawings -some are very thin detailed lines, but it covers an 11x14 page. So is that what you mean by smaller for rich black?
@Danafinland3 ай бұрын
on and it's all vectorized
@PrintDesignAcademy3 ай бұрын
I would not recommend using rich black for your illustrations. It's usually most beneficial in designs that have a huge flood of black. Where the entire background is black ink. For a coloring book. 100% Black is your best option. :)
@Danafinland3 ай бұрын
Great, so I'm just vectorizing my pen and ink drawings. So would I need to work with the pantone at all since it will only be printing my black? It's for a coloring book.
@PrintDesignAcademy3 ай бұрын
You won't need Pantones for your book since it would be all black ink. No need to worry about that! It also brings the cost of a print job up when you use Pantones, so best to use them when a color you need is out of the range of CMYK.
@Danafinland3 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the print ready checklist. Do you have a line by line detail of how all this would be done in illustrator? I have a pen and ink drawing that i already vectorized but i need help with the crop marks and bleed and overall, how to prep a graphic for my printer, it's for a book. Hope I explained that.

If it's only black and white then all you'll need is the black swatch in there. If your graphic isn't vector you can watch this video below to learn about working with images for print. Vector illustrations are the best way to go, but hope this vid helps for your export process! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWKbgXt9Zc2iZ5I

When deleting a Parent Page, I assumed it would delete the applied elements of the pages where that Parent was applied. However, I've run into situations when I delete the Parent Page and the elements stay on the page....making me go page by page to delete the elements individually. What did I do wrong? It seems that once you Override the Parent Page, it unlocks those elements...but how do you lock them again so that later on they will be deleted if you decide to delete the Parent Page. Does any of this make sense? LOL.
@PrintDesignAcademy3 ай бұрын
Makes total sense! Ya, when you unlock the elements on a page they act as if they were there the whole time. There isn't a link after you release them from the parent page. The best thing is to try and work in your parent page as much as possible and if you have a few different design needs, create a few different parent pages but keep them locked. Unfortunately no real way to "re-lock" the elements after.

In case you need to export many artboards into separate PNGs (like a game character to pieces to animate it) you just go to File->Export->Check select artboards->Select PNGs

It could be that your images are too low of a resolution? Sometimes forcing the image into 300dpi if the starting size is too small it will still appear blurry.
