I am pissed I bought this same engine stand. What a load of crap to have to do it like this to get it to work. And of course it’s too much work to try to put it in the box and take it back, so now I’m a stuck with it. Should have researched more and bought the geared Sunex.

Remove the hoist wheels (as they are bigger than the stand). Remove the wheels, bush them by enough so the stand arms can roll under the hoist arms. Might take a little welding, but then you can easily transfer engine from hoist to stand.

Great video but all you have to do is put the motor stand in backwards and it fits perfectly lol

Why don't you just turn your engine stand around

Because the motor placement in the car is not optional. The front of the motor has to be facing the shop crane to install motor.

Lol... Just turn the stand around and back it into the lift. Then lower the motor into it. Works like a charm without all the other bs.

At 5:12 with the legs of the stand cupped, all you had to do was remove the pins on the hoist and as you pull back on the stand the hoist legs would be pulled out and fold down. done.

Pulley and lever reduction. Agreed it's still heavy, but a small fraction of 500.

For those in the comments suggesting "cupping" the hoist and stand, by spinning the engine 180 degrees, I suggest you throw a tape measure on the rear of the stand crossmember. Do the same between the hoist legs, and let me know what you come up with. My set up (same hoist, different jack stand) wouldn't work with your suggested "cupping", nor, does it appear, would it for Ozark Mountain - the hoist legs are not wide enough for the rear end of the stand. He suggests a work around that worked for him - which is WAAAAY more stable than what I did when presented with the same problem. Nice job Ozark Mountain! Wish I would have found this a few days ago. At least I now have a way to get the engine back onto the hoist!

Why not use an engine tilting jig spin the engine 360% set it down between the lift legs and unhook the engine and roll it out.

*caution if you are new to this* < < V eng stand to V eng hoist. Take the Red Engine Stand and turn it around backwards. Put it behind the Engine and wheel it strait out. Please don’t do what is being shown in this video. You could get hurt or tip your heavy engine over and damage it.

Instead of letting it down on the legs, why not just spin the whole thing 180 degrees, let it down and wheel it out? Am I missing something?

Just turn the engine stand around in mid air to face the opposite way once the engine is attached to it, easy peasy.

That's big weight, but your arm is nearly verticle. With such a steep angle, it doesnt qualify as a pronation lift. It's not an accurate lift for arm wrestling at all...forget the ego lifting, it's just a recipe for injury
@ozarkmountaingarage6707
@ozarkmountaingarage6707 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was following the lift set by Ermies, Irackli and Zurab and Levon, so is it a ego lift because you want to see how close you can get to there lift, I think not.

I have run into the same problem. I don't know why most hoist need to be in that V configuration. They may save space but they are limited in their use compared to a hoist in the H configuration. And they H shaped hoist are expensive!

Can you do it with real dumbells
@ozarkmountaingarage6707
@ozarkmountaingarage6707 Жыл бұрын
At 60 years old, that would be a foolish mistake. I enjoy lifting heavy with the stability of the machine but for me to try a dumbbell lift without a really good spotter - bad idea! As far as REAL dumbbells there is nothing fake in my basement. But just curious, so you use real and fake dumbbells , that must get expensive to have those made! I think I’ll stick to the real weights.

@@Teddy-de1lg Iam not sure on dumbbells, I lift at my home gym and my dumbbells only go up to 45s, I have the ability to build dumbbells with plates but I wouldn’t want to risk the injury for a heavy shoulder press.
