Nice bit of classic mullet fishing. Maybe a micro barbed hook would have had a more secure hold on that big fish. I tend to use barbless for most fish now but occasionally.. There are some monsters out there. I hooked a 7lbr in torquay Harbour. Effortlessly stripped 20 yards then the hook pulled. One or two other situations that are emblazoned on my mind but did not see the fish..Gutted ! but makes sport more interesting... Are there any tidal carp about there?
@TheConstantAngler
@TheConstantAngler 10 сағат бұрын
Ni tidal Carp there mate. I think I might get some barbed hooks and squash the barb so there is a small lump to see if that will help, if not I’m going down the micro barbed root. Glad you enjoyed it.

How would this reel do in saltwater application?
@TheConstantAngler
@TheConstantAngler 3 күн бұрын
@@lalo1704 I use mine regularly in saltwater. I tighten the drag and spray over with a water bottle. I then take the side plate off and whilst covering the spool I spray my braided line, before wiping around the rim of the spool and frame with a damp cloth. I leave it apart to dry and make sure to loosen the drag again so as not to crush the carbon washers. When I have put it back together I add a little oil to the bearings if required or grease to the level line mechanism. I do this every trip. I don’t use it every week more like a couple dozen times a year.

Good fishing, and bad luck with the biggie They're all a joy to catch. Never had one on the float, only ledgering or off the surface so might give the float a try at some point. So your float fishing tips are a help. You seem to spend a fair bit of of time on that stretch of the river whereas I spend as much time as I can closer to the mouth. Do you think/ know if the river holds larger fish. I'm looking for a 5lb + now but generally see lots of small stuff Thanks for your time making the videos

@@TheConstantAngler I see, thanks for the information. A bit different to Bass then who like a constant flow of water and often found in the most violent of tidal areas. I just ordered this reel as my first bfs reel paired it with a mavllos delicacy rod and it's a little over $50 USD. Going to make loads of videos on it. I've been spoiled and have used my friend's various $600-900 BFS combo's as well as his $150-300 range bfs combo's. Bet i'll catch more than him with this $50 combo lol.
