@protecsafes6642 yes, upgraded bosch injectors and bosch fuel pump. I didn't do it to this particular one, but I have removed the rack limiter one one before. I don't recommend it as you can have catastrophic failure due to over revving .

@jacobclarkson5306 i haven't actually put any of these om617 on a dino , so i couldn't give you a hp/torque number. I can tell you it is a major difference in felt power. Especially if you couple it with a built injection pump. That's where it really brings out potential

Nice job on the Turbo fitting. One question about the In line Pump. Do you happen to know if the Bosch inline pump was different for the Naturally aspirated engine and Turbo Variations? ON EXHAUST STUDS Heating is great, penetrating oil is great also but the real trick is using two nuts to remove the stud. vice grips are fine but i have struggled much more with vice grips than with the two nut method. If it isn't obvious to whoever is reading, you put one nut as far down as you can to avoid twisting the stud which could be brittle, then thread another nut onto the stud over it.... You know have a bolt when operating the lower nut. you can switch between lower and upper for threading a stud in or out... FWIW i have done this job on several on these 617 manifolds.

Hello I have a question I have a om617 I have swapped into a 16-foot boat I'm currently have it running quite well but I'm looking to upgrade to the 7.5 mm fuel pump and I was wondering if this hx30 turbo would be the best option for me. I was having slight issues pulling out a skier and I just need a little bit more push at the bottom end and overall more horsepower. So I need a moderately quick spooling turbo and I am planning on doing a intercooler. This video was quite helpful.

In my opinion, an xh30 is going to give you max power output. But something such as a holset HE221W will spool quickly and give better bottom end at the sacrifice of top end capability.

I left the jeep ecu in to run the guages. I still don't have the tach hooked up, but the rest are easy. The factory Speedo runs off of wheel speed sensors. The fuel guage remains the same since it's the stock fuel tank. I run a mechanical oil guage, and the temp guage runs on a 3 wire temp sensor that sends signal to the factory temp guage and the gm ls computer as well. I will get around to the tach eventually

Its actually just a spacer, not an adapter per say. The openings on the spacer are the exact size as the flange on the turbo, so there are no air restrictions

I have put over 4k miles on this swap so far and there is zero noise from the trans or any of the hydraulic throwout bearing components . It actually is a much smoother and easier clutch to operate vs a standard slave cylinder style

Thanks for the info. My experience unfortunately was complete opposite. I did some pretty extensive research and people were either guessing or they were saying it won't hold up. I found very little useful info on bolting an nv3500 to an ls. Also I found very limited to almost no availability of an nv3500 anywhere near me. That being said I had to get what I could take, not try and find a certain year transmission that has zero availability. Pretty much any transmission that was bolted up to a sbc will bolt right up to an ls. This isn't my first rodeo on bolting an older trans to an ls, I have done it several times, but they were autos, and just required a spacer to place the torque converter correctly.

I used to pay right around 1k from benzforce. They stopped doing them for a while, not sure if they started back up, but I'm sure it's over 2k now with everyone else. MBZ parts offers m pumps , I believe they are a little over 2k

Awesome trans, I had one behind a stock 454TBI in a 92full size 2door yukon that stood soooo many clutch dumps. What killed it was wrong oil and filled to the brim by a competent mechanic😤 and I did not ask for the fluid change😤😤😤 Costed me a cluster gear, the second gear and the usual consumables, good as new with the correct fluids of course. I wish I can get my hands on another one. A pain to take apart, even more so to put back together. Thanks for the vid

So far the nv3500 from a 92 3/4 chevy is holding up great. An nv4500 is a sure shot but, very large, very heavy, and pretty low geared. I think the nv3500 is a good fit as long as your not dumping the clutch or doing crazy stuff

It depends on what transmission you use and how much your sourced engine costs. I typically find om617's here in Ohio around $1200-$1500. Doomsday diesel usually costs around that for a transmission adapter kit. A safe assumption would probably be $3k - $4k

I have seen a couple people who have done it. The only issues are, it's not an easy nor cheap swap, and it will wear it out very quickly. The turbo model has oil squirters, sodium filled valves, nitrogen hardened crank, and a better injection pump, all which the non turbo lack. You would also have to swap the exhaust and intake manifold to accept a turbo. You then have to make an oil feed line for the turbo, then find a way to make an oil return to the pan. Your much better off getting a factory turbo model, but I always say go for it if it's what you want to do, it is possible.

Unfortunately, a 241j transfer case is a different bolt pattern, and input shafts are different lengths. I could have had an adapter made, which would cost me $600, plus having to switch out input shafts. The 241c transfer case come with the transmission and cost me nothing. If I choose to do a slip yoke eliminator kit, and i may in the future, you can purchase a slip yoke eliminator kit for just over $200 for the 241c.

Thank you! I'm a big fan of 617 swaps and will continue to do them. However, this particular jeep I chose an ls for traveling with my family. Less diesel exhaust fumes, more top end power for pulling our large boat in the mountains of Tennessee, ect.. I will be swapping a 617 into another 4 door eventually.

To be honest you will be hard pressed to find an om606 for any where near a descent price here in the US. I have been looking for one for a future project for 4 years now. I have yet to find one less than $3800. The 617s, if you watch fb marketplace closely, I see them show up multiple times a year for $800-$1200. I actually traded a $500 item for a running driving 300d a few years back. They are becoming harder to find, but keep your eyes peeled

I considered it in the beginning, but honestly the ls has alot more advantages over the hemi. One of the biggest factors is that the hemi would have cost me a good bit more money. I know they are notorious for cam and lifter failure, which concerns me also. The ls world has a lot more aftermarket support over the hemi, and in my opinion, I have never heard a hemi that sounded as good as a well tuned ls. I know my setup cost less than the hemi and makes a good bit more power. I would have had to do cutting and welding on my frame as well. I have nothing against a hemi, the ls was just a better choice in my situation.

Yes I always use the factory water pumps, I don't recall the necks being really long though. Maybe stick out a few inches

@Steel-Gunner there is a pump from late 60's Mercedes that also fit, which are about 30mm/1.25" shorter. That's what I used on my swap but I had to rebuild the pulley with that shorter offset

I have run an intercooler and it is a pretty noticeable power difference. I haven't run mine on a dyno yet, but plan to in the future. I don't think the n/a manifold flows better, however it works much better for hook up if your running an intercooler
