Thanks for uploading in high quality, in a lot of Fantasy Grounds tutorials it is hard to read the text inside the program because the quality is at like 480p.

Very good video on the terrain tool and more importantly how to use it creatively. While Josh's videos are excellent on how to use these tools in drawing and making maps. I find your videos on how to use them for game uses equally satisfying and very useful. Thanks for a great video.

I was building a home brew race today and trying to figure out how to add an ability score to a race (got that) and then add a choice ability score to a subrace while excluding the initial ability score. Vanara get +2 to Dex and the Simian subrace of Vanara get to choose +1 to any score but Dex.
@mattcavy1934 Жыл бұрын
Hey I am not sure if you have figured this out yet, but I am linking a syntax page on the FG forum. I am not sure if you specific case is available in the prebuilt syntax, but you can create a choice between set statistics with the syntax. Hope it helps: www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?48739-5e-Class-Background-Race-Feat-interpreted-strings

I'm glad you liked it. This is probably my least liked video I've done, but I get it. I plan on making another video about traps that breaks down running them in FG better than this one... and with a lot less sass.

Hey, I was looking through this, and was noting your custom region settings/tables and such all labled MCC Xyz or so on. Did you code these yourself? Are they FGU Friendly? Would you shoot me a message on how to make them? Would be greatly appreciated.
@mattcavy19342 жыл бұрын
Yes I made those tables myself, they work as designed. There are some limitations to what they can do but its probably beyond what you are expecting them to do.

A very helpful beginner's guide to some lighting and line of sight work, thank you for posting it. The music is very loud compared to your voice; I had to lower the volume when it came on and then crank it back up again to hear you afterward.

Thanks a bunch, I will make an edit to lower the music volume. Hopefully less ear bleeding in the future.

hey how did you get that races tab on the right?
@mattcavy19343 жыл бұрын
Go to the gear symbol at the top right (configuration) and there is a 'Sidebar' selection tab at the bottom of that window. As a neat thing, the order you select them will be the order they appear on the right. There are 'quick buttons' on that tab for GM, Player, and Create.
@mmf62363 жыл бұрын

Did you create all those books yourself? Like when you were talking about Flora or training an animal? Thanks for the tips, I really like the player sheet one. Even though Fantasy Grounds has the player sheet this is a more communal thing with the pins and all that
@mattcavy19343 жыл бұрын
I did add those to FG myself (and made them look like authored books in the game) but much of the fauna you would recognize from many fantasy titles. The 'Skinning the Beast' is my own take on harvesting of animals and taming of pets/mounts.
@jdRamza3 жыл бұрын
@@mattcavy1934 Something I've noticed, if you use pins on the player sheet doesn't that conflict when you swap out their map? It makes sense for a overworld only kinda thing unless you can swap pins quickly somehow.
@mattcavy19343 жыл бұрын
Yes I would suggest only the 'big map' for this. If you want to use it for local areas or battlemaps that you don't want the pins getting in the way for, you can turn off the pins (without removing them) from the Play menu. Just turn them back on when the scene/fight is over.
@bobcasale32413 жыл бұрын
Your maps are awesome looking. Did you make them yourself? if so was there any special software you used? They look amazing regardless. Thank you for the FG tips as well! edit: Never mind! I can see you have map tutorials on your channel so that answers that! Great job with the video and maps. Subscribing and looking forward to seeing more :)

why are your pins green! how do i do this

@bricefos3 жыл бұрын
@@mattcavy1934 so the players can click those? How do you share because it doesn’t give me the option
@wizzarin4243 жыл бұрын
Green pins are those you have shared with your players, Red pins are those only the DM can see. Pins are basically short cuts, For example in 5E those Dragon heads next to information, drag one of those onto a map will create a pin (shortcut to that info). Short cuts can be maps, characters, encounters, etc.
@bricefos3 жыл бұрын
@@wizzarin424 I know how to place them... I meant how do you share them
@mattcavy19343 жыл бұрын
When you right click on the link itself, there is an option to share it with the players. The link can be unshared the same way. I will do a video on this and other questions soon.

I've just gone through all of your videos. I have to comment and let you know that I really appreciate how well spoken you are, and how direct and to the point you are. Some tutorials surrounding Fantasy Grounds are needlessly complex when there are simpler ways to complete the same thing. So uh thanks for making good content. Would love to see a video on setting up a custom class or more complex PC actions. (I run a lot of homebrew and am new to Fantasy Grounds)

I loved tip 1!!! Bravo, Fantastic!! I'll get your idea for my campaigns. Thank you very much. Really appreciate it.
@scottc2873 жыл бұрын
In tip 1, did you do the map reveal in FGU or in something else and then import it into your game? I'm wondering if it is possible to layer two maps and then paint transparency into the top map so the bottom map is revealed.
@mattcavy19343 жыл бұрын
No, at the moment you can't 'erase' an overlaid image bit by bit (you can tile images and delete the images as you go). You can use the Mask tool or even Draw over it to use the erase function. I will demonstrate both in the next video about some tips on using line of site.

The one you saw there was made by me, but I normally import that image to each campaign I am running (so the sheet is static to that game). I will likely make a video on making modules at some point and show you how to package your 'settings' so you can just load them in the games.
