I like your method of continuing to stitch through the opening spaces, with a longer stitch length. Saves time and thread, and as you said, it helps with marking the line for pressing the seam of the item after turning it right side out.

This tutorial is very clear and easy to follow. I enjoy not having music, just the perfect close-ups. I haven’t made this kind of bottom on a bag yet so I will be trying this soon. This would be a nice way of using up any 10” inch squares left over from a pre-cut layer cake if one had some.

Excellent idea to use the 10" layercake squares. I should look into the standard precut sizes! Thanks for the suggestion ❤

I do this all the time. I call it getting out of my head and into my hands. In other words I concentrate on just doing something which helps my brain to stop being so, What If, should I, Would it be right to.... etc etc etc. I find it very calming to just make things. I have so many projects on the go I'm never short of projects to work on.
@CharlotteKanStudio29 күн бұрын
It's amazing how focusing on hands-on activities can bring such calm to our minds! And isn't it great to have a menu of projects to select from to fit the moment or mood you are in.

Moths are such a scourge! How did this work?
@CharlotteKanStudio29 күн бұрын
Ugh they are! The technique worked. I haven't had problems knitting with the wool I steamed and I haven't noticed moth damage. Hanging the moth trap is somthing I won't repeat because I think it mostly attracted outside moths. Keep in mind I'm not sure if I was just in time too prevent a big infestation or that I was just one dead moth, but the peace of mind I had after steaming was worth it.

I have sewn my entire life but with the exception of a few baby quilts years ago I did not start quilting until recently, due to the loss of my father back in 2020. It not only helped me with the grief I was experiencing, it also helped me to deal with other stresses in my life. I can take something not so positive happening in my life and pay it forward by giving a cozy quilt to others. I hope you find the same joy.
@CharlotteKanStudio29 күн бұрын
Thank you for sharing your story! Seeing how you've turned your grief into something beautiful and meaningful through quilting is inspiring. So sorry to hear you lost your father in 2020. I paused the quilt for a while over the summer, but when I picked it back up it helped me through a few stressful weeks. Quilting is such a nice break from ✨everything✨
@christinacooperfilmАй бұрын
"It's easy to procrastinate and get stuck in the research stage." YES! Creating, while dealing with grief has been quite therapeutic for me as well. Whether it was a memorial video, a documentary or baking bread, I've been able to handle the emotions in a way that helps me to heal and honor those lost at the same time. Your quilt project is amazing! The pattern you have set is lovely! I have zero clue how to make a quilt, but you are a hero for doing all that math! lol But, truly, you have a beautiful gift!
@CharlotteKanStudioАй бұрын
Oh yeah the research procrastination (hello Pinterest) can be such a trap. Sometimes when i catch myself I will say “1 2 3 goo” out loud 😂, jump up and figure out something more productive to do. Movement always helps. Baking bread is a wonderful way to create too! The smell of freshly baked bread must have healing powers. Also a nice break from all the computer work editing your beautiful doc! Thank you ❤️

As an American, I don’t even like the inch ruler. It took me awhile to learn how to read it when I started sewing. I learned the metrics system when I lived in Germany a while ago, and i thought it was better and easier. I am glad I found your channel, I am enjoying your video. 😊
@CharlotteKanStudioАй бұрын
Good to know even Americans can get confused by the inches rulers 🥹 I love the precision of the metrics system, but all the quilt tutorials being in inches it’ll be worth the initial confusion. 😆 Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment ❤️
@lisascenic29 күн бұрын
Creating as a way of working through intense emotions is such a strong human impulse. I think it’s lovely that you’re honoring a member of an older generation by making something for a young person. Continuity and growth are such powerful forces. ******** On a (mostly) unrelated note…. I’m another American who is frustrated by our refusal to adopt the metric system. It probably won’t surprise anyone to learn that a progressive administration was moving the country toward using metric, and the subsequent conservative administration stopped this, in a contrarian move. (Carter tried to adopt the use of metric, and Reagan put an end to it if anyone is curious.)
@CharlotteKanStudio29 күн бұрын
@lisascenic Who knew even metrics vs. inches can be politics but on the otherhand not surprised at all :) " I think it’s lovely that you’re honoring a member of an older generation by making something for a young person. " that's a beautiful way to look at it ❤
