I have been on bioidentical hormones for 2 years. My lipodemia has became worse so I just stopped taking estrogen. I havent heard any doctors or forums talking about bioidentical hormones and the effects on lypodemia.

How do I get a medical advocate how do I find out what I need to eat or not eat with lipedema...how can I find treatment for my self I can't seem to find help in Alabama I desperately need the surgery

Lisa, I'M also being held out from hip surgery because of my BMI. Im a life long dieter with the roadblock of Lipedema in the way. I've payed out of pocket for drs.and dietitians with little to no results. I'm now being seen at the U of W weight loss clinic and having no results with medication, only the sideffects from being on the medications. I understand when they say 22 lbs. What a mountain that seems like with lipedema. Im facing a bleak future if the surgery dosent happen ....Im battling with all I have to get rid of the pounds so surgery can happen. 😢

Lisa Gods delays are not His denials. Trust that this happened for a reason. He has a better time and place for your surgery to happen. It will happen, just not at this time. We all love you and are praying for you. Someday you will look back at this delay and be thankful. For now it feels like a setback, but in time you will see it was actually a “set up” for a better result.

I appreciated the info but I'm not interested in surgery at my age. I am interested in the conservative treatments.

I got here late (5:03 pm) and think you already signed off. Agree w/ Catherine today is the most gorgeous, glorious day! I would love to have these temps with no humidity all year round, with all the beautiful colors of fall. Today would have been my dad’s 96th birthday. I always took off work, and we’d either drive around PA Dutch country in Lancaster County, or head west (towards Gettysburg) to apple country for the best apples and ice cream. My story is just like yours. 70 and I went to my PCP and said I think I have this but I need you to confirm the diagnosis. That started my journey and two months later having surgery.

Thank-You for this very informative video. I think I developed my Lipodema from driving Uber 🚖 for 6hrs a day 5+ days a week. I've now purchased a Vibration plate to do 30 minutes a day (2x15) 3 x a week to re tone my legs and drain my body, I borderline stage 2️⃣. I also bounce on my Tebouber 20 min a day, now I need to add swimming to my routine,😊

I am only a few years younger than you Catherine. I am currently going thru lymphedema physical therapy, getting a new leg pump soon that looks like it will work better than the basic one. I wish every Doctor were required to watch this video. It’s not very long and could help prevent a misdiagnosis. I was diagnosed with everything else until one day a therapist told me I had Lipedema. Not to mention all the procedures that doctors said would help or “cure” what they diagnosed me with. I had already been in pain for 8 years. People still look at me like I just made it up when I try to explain my diagnosis.

I’m for fasting. It’s just getting yourself used to it . I listened to Dr. Jason Fung and Megan Ramos. I would do a group fast. Support helps get you through.

You are not alone. I believe doctors are embarrassed they no NOTHING and feel superior therefore it’s easier to dismiss a self diagnosis as a nutball. Sadly people with fibromyalgia have been dismissed by many doctors as well.

I wonder if it’s caught early if there might be a hormone treatment that should be explored and researched as treatment to stop the progression. It’s important for insurance to cover treatment of liposuction and manual removal. This gives life back and can halt the progression of joint problems and pain where we don’t move anymore and it gets worse.

Makes sense when your heart has increased fluid to move.

This is a very interesting Heart Study for women with lipedema. Thanks very much Dr. Leslyn and Tribe member Mary K for sharing. I have shared it with my mother. I'm in Ireland. I enjoyed the Heart to Heart at the weekend. I'm on the Premium Access so I will rewatch the sessions over the coming weeks ❤

I think a heart condition might also make a diet connection. I was thinking about earlier how we hear vein and lymphatic studies but not artery and heart research. Dr. Wright recently mentioned brain bloodflow from a Vanderbikt study. Missed the live.
