Using a large storage bin inside the bathtub as a dog tub works well for really getting dog fully wet . Helps to soak the underparts and clean paws and legs.. and great for removing all soap.

Donna do you start the shaved rear of the dog at the end of the rib cage? For the lion clip. I have Border Collies and Papillons and was just curious. I always thought Matisse was stunning.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if a PWDs muzzle is trimmed back like a poodle clean face to the base of the ears or if it was just the muzzle, this helped a lot. 👍

Hi! We are entering our first show and until recently, our dog has always had a retriever cut. I’m a bit nervous about trimming the muzzle because of our dog’s whiskers and also because he isn’t accustom to us using any electric trimmer (other than scissors) in this area of his body. Do you have any advice on grooming this area of the dog? Thank you.
@ClaircreekPWDsDonnaGottdenker2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Use a 7f blade and I ask my pup people to start this at 8 weeks old. You will need to be patient

Our past dogs seemed to put up with this hair pulling very well, especially our girl dog. I thought they were super tough, but this dog is even better!

I never appreciated that clipping was difficult with a matted dog. Once you shave right down, do you then wash, or do you brush first, so the matting to the skin is eliminated, then wash (then brush again, obviously)? Thanks for this. (I'm binge-watching your videos!)

Hi Donna - what size scissors and brand are you using? Randall has an irregular coat - his head hair is so straight that it automatically forms a part right down the middle. Would you recommend thinning shears to give it body?
@ClaircreekPWDsDonnaGottdenker3 жыл бұрын
scissors are very personal. you need to try them to fit your hand. i would not thin the hair on his head. real coat does not seem to take shape until after 1 year old. not sure how old your pup is.

The flag on the tail is the signature of a PWD. Their history is very interesting.
@BrookeG-cx3jq Жыл бұрын
A late reply, but it’s said that Porties use that flag as a rudder when they swim, hence why the standard is to leave it in place.

Donna, please do more videos! You’re the only person who grooms PWDs correctly on utube. Most groomers just want do shave then down and keep a big mustache.
