Het is fijn om een goede, betrouwbare bron van content te hebben die niet in het Engels is! Iets wat ik zo gemakkelijk kan volgen omdat het Nederlands is, en ik ben Nederlands! Geweldige video's, ga alsjeblieft zo door...😅ik wil en stroopwafel voor de lunch, maar ik heb mijn laatste gisteren opgegeten! Super irritant!😂

Fun fact- Even though Afrikaans is 100% its own language - we still have so many monuments with writings on them in Dutch. We also do not call tyres "band". It's called a wiel (like in english wheel)

Us Afrikaans people understand Dutch completely but you pronounce your "R" much more rounder than us. I live in Zambia now and all the Zambians and expats think we are Dutch. We very much enjoy conversations- we just need to speak slower to each other.

Weet je wat echt bloed iritant is? Ik ben geboren en getogen in Nederland, maar mijn familie komt uit Azië. Als ik naar de winkel ga en wil afrekenen, spreekt vervolgens de Nederlandse caissière Engels tegen me. Ik antwoord in het Nederlans en vervolgens praten ze weer in het Engels tegen me. Vervolgens antwoord ik in het Nederlands en dan blijven ze toch Engels tegen me praten. Hoe ik weet dat ze gewoon Nederlanders zijn? Ze praten met een heel dik Nederlands accent en hebben ook gewoon Nederlands gesproken tegen degene voor me. Echt bloed iritant is dat en daarom ga ik veel liever iets online bestellen.

"Wat pak je" als popiejopie alternatief voor "wat neem je bij de lunch"... Moet dat nou? Er zijn ook nog steeds Nederlanders die niet even een voorverpakte sandwich uit het schap "pakken" - blikje cola erbij -, maar bijvoorbeeld zelf thuis een lunchmaaltijd bereiden. Dat mogen leerders van de Nederlandse taal toch ook best weten?

Ja, hier in Australie hebben wij ook het zelvde voor lunch... en wrap of en kebab met vlees (ham, felafel, sla, tomaten, komkommer). Of en 'burger' of en quiche als ik naar de winkel in het dorp gaat. En op vrijdag, kan ik naar de kleine cafe in mijn buurt gaan, en mischien kan ik en flees kroket kopen met mosterd saus.. oh, oh, oh!

Ik eet graag alleen thuis ... kikkererwten of linzen, kwark, pindakaas rechtstreeks uit de pot. Vaak kook ik mijn brood in een pan: water, volkoren bloem en baking soda. Ik hou niet van Nederlands brood. Dan eet ik veel fruit. De mensen in de video eten te weinig tijdens de lunch.

Als student van de taal kan ik zeggen dat Nederlands waanzinnig makkelijk is. Ik heb ongeveer twintig talen gestudeerd en Nederlands is waarschijnlijk het makkelijkst (samen met Portugees).

I think many of the people interviewed in the video underestimate their ability to understand Afrikaans. I am sure they would be able to understand it without much effort just by being exposed to it.

Ik paar keer meegemaakt om een Nederlanders tegen mij Engels gepraat, maar weet je dat wat heb ik gezegd tegen hun sorry meneer ik kan niet Engels praten. Zullen we verder gaan met Nederland anders moet je tegen mij Arabisch praten 😂😂

Wat vind je van het (pseudo-)Afrikaans in het lied van Karin Bloemen (Apartheid is een skone zaak)? Lijkt dat er een beetje op?

Waarom wordt in Zuid Afrika ook Engels gesproken? Hadden de Engelsen daar ook een kolonie? Zo ja, wie was er het eerst?

Saw first this video since Im starting learning Dutch and I do work for a Belgian company, and now I just broke my brain listen to dutch and read both english and dutch subtitles and try to translate and understand both dialects and compile it to my native language which is none of those 😀 So Thank you 😂

I don't quite understand why you have this as a topic. There are plenty of people out there who think Dutch is the same as German - if course, it's not. And in the US it's worse because English speakers couldn't be bothered to properly say Deutsch for the Amish who immigrated from Germany, and said Dutch instead, even though the Amish clearly speak a form of German, hence the incorrect reference to "Pennsylvania Dutch" who are German religious refugees. If, in the US I say I'm Dutch, I commonly get one of two reactions: "Oh, you're from Pennsylvania", if I clarify by saying my family's from Holland, they say "Oh you're from Michigan". The problem with outright saying from the Netherlands, is that most recognize it as a country, some even that it's in Europe, but there are plenty of under educated who don't know that "Dutch" is the English name for the people and language of that country. To me, while this particular topic for a lesson can be helpful, it csn also be confusing snd add to the problems. Mostly these days I have friends who know I'm Dutch, properly understand the reference, and for whom I will scratch make food & pastry at the holidays.

"Waarom we de langste van de aardige zijn" is niet echt de slimste opmerking haha, wij Nederlanders aten vroeger echt geen broodje als ontbijt en lunch ook nog eens. Gewoon goede warme maaltijden op de dag. English: "Why we are the tallest of the nice ones" is not really the smartest comment haha, we Dutch didn't used to eat sandwiches for breakfast and lunch as well. Just good warm meals throughout the day.
