I really enjoyed your wonderful job. I got a rear brake malfunction message on my instrument cluster screen because the rear brake cylinder on the driver side seems not to move back and forth even though a motor on the caliper seems working properly. So, I think I need to replace all the rear brake caliper and follow the procedures you instructed. Do I have to deactivate the electronic parking brake prior to the job? Or would disconnection of the battery work? Your advice of expertise would be appreciated.

Just make sure that the parking brake is off you do not have to disconnect the battery just follow the direction in the video and you'll be fine, thank you for the comment!

Perfect! Finally found this to help me with my 06 Expedition. Great information on the right way to do this! By the way, where is the EGR valve? I’m not finding reliable information online. Some sites say it doesn’t have one others say it’s the purge valve on the firewall! I just want to clean or replace it due to low idle and hesitation around 60 mph. I figure I can do that while I’m cleaning the throttle body / MAF. Thanks very much!

@bigdoncee2 жыл бұрын
It's actually leaking into it in spraying out between the actuator and caliper
@ChevyMalibu692 жыл бұрын
You replaced the caliper with a remanufactured unit and it's leaking around the piston? I'd say they did a crappy job rebuilding it, there's o rings inside that keep the fluid from leaking out. Either the piston is pitted or the o rings are damaged in some way which is leading to your leak, I would definitely remove it and get a new caliper, unless it's leaking from the banjo fitting, it's not your fault, it's the manufacturer. Take it back
@bigdoncee2 жыл бұрын
@@ChevyMalibu69 you are 100% right I realize it last night after thinking about it ,the side that's leaking also has a big glob of glue coming out the back side center of the caliper I noticed when I bought it but it looked factory but what it actually was ,was some tried repairing the leak and resold it to me advanced auto in my area who knows how many times they resold it lol I deff know what to look for now when shopping for rear fusion calipers

Where did you find the lines & I need the one thats going from the radiator on drivers side to the middle. The one you haven’t connected yet. What’s that called and where’d you get it
@ChevyMalibu692 жыл бұрын
I got all the lines from the dealer, and if you need a fitting that threads into the radiator or trans cooler it might be very difficult to find, it was for me back then when I did this job. I haven't had that truck in years now, but I think the line you're referring to is just a feed or return from cooler to radiator if I remember correctly

Great Video. One question-does the "squealer" go on the top or bottom ?? When you took the old pad(s) out the squealer was on the bottom, when you replaced with the new pad it was on the top. Thanks
@ChevyMalibu692 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment, obviously the Squealer is just for when the pads Get Low and it's only job is to contact the rotor and alert you to the fact that the pads are low, the pad will still work the way it's intended whether the Squealers at the top or the bottom so I wouldn't be too concerned about it but if it's at the top when you remove yours I would just put it back at the top when you reinstall the new pads it's completely up to you

This method worked only with stainless welding wire and a stainless nut for me. Used an element scanning gun and the old studs had so much zinc coating on them the steel nuts wouldn't weld to what was left of the studs. For some reason stainless did the trick even when it was broke about 1/4 in in the head.

These cheap mopar crap brakes don't last. My mothers trail hawk got 15k, inner brake pads worn to the metal. And she's a easy driver. Factory pads should be 60k+. Definitely not going factory. But like I told her, that's what you get buying crap Chrysler/fiat vehicles, that can't last after bailouts and multiple mergers. great video though! The e20 socket was super helpful

@haydenw.15292 жыл бұрын
So what do you mean run it through the gears? Like put it in sequential mode and just have the car raised to go through every gear or just go from park down to sequential and back up multiple times???
@ChevyMalibu692 жыл бұрын
Well to start, it's sport or select shift, not sequential but what I mean is to go from reverse to neutral to drive. Allow the trans a couple seconds to fully engage into each gear, then switch back and forth at least 8-10 times to ensure the fluid has made its way fully into the valve body, torque converter, solenoids, actuators etc... for you to get a proper reading on the level of the fluid on a level surface at normal operating temperature in park. Make sure it's just barely dribbling out of that hole by the wheel, not enough and you'll have problems and too much will give you shifting issues as well. Good luck and thanks for the comment!

I dread removing the lug bolts. The caps are notorious for messing up. Where I get my tires rotated, they came out one day and said "we can't rotate because whoever did it last time messed some of the caps up" and I said "you guys did it last time", then they went back out and miraculously was able to do the job lol. I've noticed some of my caps wiggle now....
@ChevyMalibu692 жыл бұрын
Lol, wow! Don't you love it when it's their fault and you can prove it? It definitely was something that I dreaded too for sure, I've since traded that thing in for a 2019 Ford explorer and I couldn't be happier. I love the extra room and comfort.

2016 Trailhawk, 45K and just done mine. Mine weren't scored just quite badly lipped - seemed like the discs wore down quicker than I would expect. I had quite a bit of corrosion on the hub surface so wire brushed it all flat, otherwise I would have been concerned about excessive run out. Like a lot of others I was surprised by the E20 (wish I'd seen your video before but YT just didn't pull it up in a search) , but the 12 point 16mm socket I had coped easily with no damage.
