A few tips :) Use the bamboo the other way round eg.sinew the inner surface of the slat. Heat treat the belly before backing and add some reflex to the limbs. You could easily take some thickness off the outers to lose some outer limb weight. Pretty cool but the Koreans figured all this out many moons ago.

Amazing video !!! The focus isn't so much on hitting the target as it is on being fully present and in harmony with the bow, arrow, and the process itself.

I have been practicing the style of archery for several months. They really enjoy it, but I am trying to figure out how you made the silhouette targets that you use where they cut out of puzzle floor mats thank you. Have a good day.

Say, what's the draw weight on your bows? And, theoretically & if fitted with a bodkin arrow head, could it penetrate armor &, if it can, can it penetrate even plate & chain armor?

Is this dude serioulsy using a hot glue stick to hold a bow togethe? Am i seeing this rigjt? Even If its some space age hot glue stick why not just stick it in a hot glue gun? I cant believe this is holding a freaking bow together. I must be tripping.

Just what i needed to get further along in the process of making bows and many other things. But don't fret. The more all of us become successful, the lower the success of the elitly successful. All gets balanced in the long run. Sharing knowledge is commendable, but it may lead to less success for you. I AM A SIMPLE MAN, SO SHARING EVERYTHING I KNOW IS A GIVEN!!!

Bows are under rated but thats how Mexico mostly got its independence; using mostly indigenous weapons; bows, slings, clubs, atlatl, maquanas, ect. They were still being used by a few in the revolution, because not everyone fought with guns and rifles, many times they didnt have one. Also a Mayan tribe defeated a french army in the invasion of Mexico by France, they defeated them with bows and arrows. The Spanish would cut off the thumbs of the Chichimec tribes so they woudnt be able to use the bow. The Purepechas were also known for their superior use of the bow in battle. They all had a bow along with their other weapons. The Mexicas even recognized this even though they were their mortal enemies; and failed to conquer them in their invasion attempts. There are Mexica drawings of the Purepechas shooting arrows while carrying a shield with their hand at the same time.

The way his wife shouted what are you doing😂😂😂. Lol Dave look back like a 5 year old kid, and he looked a bit like Eminem 😂😂😂. But I guess boys will be boys. We gotta do what we gotta do. And beside all the other benefits of archery, another benefit is that even as grown mature men, this will keep us boys in spirit.

Hey Dave. I've got a great suggestion to improve the longevity of these bows. A suggestion that will help to prevent set. If you use another bamboo slat that's fully tempered on both the inside of the bamboo and rind side of the bamboo. If tempered well. Then if this bamboo is used as the belly and a thinner bamboo slat is used as the back. Then the rind side of the bamboo Wil combat compression and the rind side of the bamboo is good under tension as the back of the bow. So then the back and belly should just be made thinner. It might not change the efficiency or it might..maybe it will be more springy because the wood can be made thinner. But the positive is that the bow will last, because you won't get that crushing of the fibres under compression..even if heat treated as one single piece of wood. It will still loose its efficiency. Just a suggestion that I'm about to try out. Have you perhaps tried this out before?
@musaadfelton3909
@musaadfelton3909 3 ай бұрын
Hi Dave. May I ask. How long does your bows keep up when made like this. Does it take set? Do you heat treat the belly side at all to prevent the bow from taking set?

Its mind blowing how everyone criticing you. I think this is awesome and you did a great job. I been thinking of making a bow out of trees nearby and this is a great idea. I learned few minutes before this that there's a tribe in Africa called the Hadzabe Tribe that does this. This stuff is so cool. I hope i can learn it myself
