How the heck did I miss this one? I was 14 in 1966 and ALWAYS had the radio on.

Un autentico GENIO della musica, in particolare degli anni '60 ;la sua canzone"" GIRL DON'T COME"""interpretata dalla meravigliosa SANDIE SHOW è un vero capolavoro senza confini temporali...

Born in 1953 I well understand nostalgia of those then in their teens, like myself, when this came out ouf the radio. It is, artistically, of no great value, something the composer, performers, producers etc are well aware of. However, money is being made and musical, artistic education is in no way furthered. A subject nobody is seriously interested in : we are being given nutritional and cultural shit, ans we swallow it. Moreover, we ask for it. The daft are being kept daft and that is what it is all about. She loves you yeah yeah yeah.

Has anyone else covered this song?

It's a wonderful tune. Tom Rush is the writer, The walker brothers made it famous and put Tom's kids through collage with the royalties. Midge Ure did a very nice cover in the Walker Brothers style (more royalties) and Emmylou Harris also. U2 are doing something with it too. Tom's version is very country obviously. The walkers to me capture it. Cheers

Both versions of 1984 and 1989 would be like a golden 1980s duet.

Great song, poor video: why do those brothers laugh all the time, while the lyrics say everything but laughing?

The Hollies are one of the original FIVE SUPERGROUPS that spawned all others in history after that by association (within only a few degrees of separation - less than 5). The Beatles did not.

The oldies are always the best, not like the tripe that's made today, remakes can't beat the originals.

I am 72 years old now. In 1966 I was 14 and Scott Walker and this song were my obsession which I played over and over on my portable record player (Christmas present); he seemed to me to personify beauty (like Jim Morrison). Now, I am listening and I am struck by how the words are poetry. Maybe I wasn't so stupid after all.
