The original Hovis add was directed by the guy who would later go on to direct Blade Runner.

Many years ago I used to live in Iwerne Minster, not very far from Gold Hill. I was young and very fit. Ronnie Barker didn't have to do too much acting for this. One of the great British actors long missed.

The grumble weeds did this Advert very well The voice over was a wonderful Impersonation of Whaley Batty Who was in the last of the Summer Wine And Also Nearest And Dearest Comedy These Days is absolute Rubbish To much swearing and disgusting sexual remarks

It's lovely and it is what it is, but they could have used Trooper Lane in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

I thought it was funny UP UNTIL the voice over TRIED to make it funny. Was expecting a much better punchline. I could think of 20 better endings -- eg, his wife saying "Noooo, I wanted the seeded loaf", or him dropping it and it rolling and tumbling back down the hill faster than he could chase after it.

I'd never heard of Corfe Castle until I watched 'Nuts in May' recently. Then today I was watching the 'Big Country' video & couldn't believe that Corfe Castle was in that too ! If ever I'm able to revisit the UK I'd love to see Corfe Castle & the Purbeck region for myself 🙂🇬🇧🏴

Its so great to see a town unspoiled by progress with all its original buildings and architecture, sadly we have lost most of out historic buildings in London for progress and high rises and sky scrapers
